:DOle Sproul shoots a Horton, lol. Least ways that's what he claimed on the xbow forum last year when "Sproul has Spoken".:D:D:D Wondered where he got off to, lol.
not on much.yes,HORTON ULTRA SL.

i am fishing bass tournaments full time now and having a terrible year.

i am in RUT.

i started scouting in my area a little early this year.
this is do to PRESSURE on deer now,its very hard to get a nice buck on stateforestland.

i had 5 ft black rattler today,it was huge.
i had it around back of head with my hand and i thought i was going to lose my grip.
i usually just walk away but my lab was 1 ft or so from it and i was afraid he was going to get it in hisneck,so i had to grab it and take it into thick laural where my dog could not get to and released it.

boy, stories i can tell with my hunting dogs over years, this is first rattler i had that close to my dogs throat,it was CLOSE.

anyhow, if you were closer, you could go along on a night bass tournament with me.:D

i was almost killed 3 weeks ago, a 30 ft locust 16 inch dia came off cliff and i saw it coming like a spear.
i ducked down in front seat of my chevy silverado and it missed my face by 1 ft and landed in passenger side.

it then flipped out and went right thru the deck of my basstracker nitro 175.

those ANTI-LOCK brakes,i did not think i was ever going to stop, they are no good in my opinion.

this week i am taking kids on fishing in my spare boat, some have never been fishing before.

these are kids from city, they call them FRESH AIR KIDS.

will try to stop in once in awhile.

p.s i have my shooting table set-up and will start shooting in bows .
last year i sighted in 11 crossbows.
most bows were horton,barnett.take care.

In 2006 the pgc allocated doe tags based on their research stating that there were 16-19 deer / sq mile . An independant co. recounted and found that there were more like 4-6 . The pgc didn't change the doe tag allocation . The whitetail deer heard is a thing of the past !
I am curious which wmu didn't hit the numbers ? I am expecting around Pittsburg , where everything is posted by either people who don't live there or by business who will let you hunt for a small price of $1000 / year !!!

you are right on.

most deer i found in a mile here in clinton county wmu2g is about what you said,4 .
many miles there are NO DEER AT ALL.

these areas are easy to hunt and deer were wiped out .

so, average for whole county may be below 4 deer a mile because of MILES of land without a deer.

NOW dcnr is opening up more areas WAYBACK because they know that those 4 deer that are left need thinned out.
WAYBACK is lie anyhow, trails etc go all over area.

check with btbowhunter,he is EXPERT at hunting tame bucks on privateland fed with corn to grow big horns.

i swear i saw him on stateforestland with GPS 100 yds from his truckLOST.:D

You PA boys come up with some of the most entertaining threads on this site

Just out of curiosity, how many of you fellas that hunted regularly did not kill at least one deer this past season?

Lanse,
I can tell you atleast 7 people that live in PA that didn't shot any deer this past year, my self included. Even better then that, between the 7 of us, we totaled about 90 days hunting. 5 of them only rifle hunt. Out of all those days afield, we averaged maybe 1 deer a day. I seen the most due to the fact that I archery hunt in an area that doesn't feel the hunting pressure and probably saw atleast 45 deer. Lets go back 15 years when I was about 18. The places that I hunted back then I would have seen 45 deer in the first few hours. Do I think they needed to reduce the deer herd, yes. Should they stop, yes they should have stopped it about 3 years ago. There is no longer an interest from people I know that want to go. Some people aren't going to buy a license this year. If that trend keeps up, the PGC is going to raise the price of license and then more people aren't going to buy.

Sounds like Illinois in the 1970s. The population has increased exponentially since then, which has had both pros and cons.

Did any of those folks go empty handed because they were holding out for a big buck, or was it just a matter of nothing coming in range?

I hopethere is a license increase for the PGC. They need it in the worst kind of way. If the hunters of PA don't see this then they are BLIND!!! If the $$ is not found in the near future the State Hacks will take it over and we all will be screwed!!!!!
