RE: Good News In PA

btbowhunter hunts PRIVATELAND,how would he ever know what is happening in WMU2G.:D

as for douge,he is a PGC wannabe.he likes lots of doe meat.

number of doe harvested is down because of lack of doe.
we have crews that drive for 2 weeks.
out of 22 hunters for first 4 days and about 15 for next 6 days they got 7 deer.

1 camp i know that hunts hard for ALL of first week with 18 in crewgot 1 deer, yes, 1 deer.
they actually got more bear, they got 5 bear.

these are people i grew up with, they know woods, in camp all year, hunt turkeys/grouse and trap.

these are not people that BTBOWHUNTER trys to say are out there.he dont know nothing ,he is FLATLANDER.

if a doe sticks her head out today, she is goner and this is why we dont have fawns also, people dont care, they just want meat and filling all those tags.

now, can people like douge see deer and fill his freezer,YES.

but for him to say there are LOTS of deer, boy, thats heck of comment.

i know DCNR people who take the 2 weeks off to hunt deer.
they get their 5 deer like douge says he does also.

these people are in woods EVERYDAY.
even tho they get their 5 deer, they hunt HARD and are in areas where they saw a doe or 2 while working.
they drive in 1 area ,kill a doe, jump in truck ,drive to another, kill another doe or 2,jump in truck, drive to another area.

if you know where doe is and hunt hard, you can get her.

average hunter comes out, no deer left in area they hunt, so they see none.

they dont have time to SCOUT DAILY,to find a deer or 2.

today, you are going to have company where a deer is seen,i know, they follow me around .they know i hunt big bucks only,so they follow me.

there is no way you are going to see a herd of deer anymore.

those days are gone.

what you could see is 1 or 2 doe together and buck in area but mostly what i see is 1 SINGLE DOE AND LONE BUCK IN AREA.

i dont think i saw 2 deer running together last season, its alway 1 lone deer.

Sproul... Have you given both the deer in your area pet names? If you have, let us know, as we who may hunt there sometime would like to be able to identify them to the newspaper people who take the picture of the last deer to be shot in Cameron Co.

Great idea there Pawildman!

Maybe we should name one Sprouldeer... last of his kind;)

OhBTW Sproul, last I checked, the ANF was public land.Actually the ANF is the largest single parcel of public land in the state. But then, you obviouslyknow nothing about any area outside of 2G.

Do you want heads or tails on those golf clubs?

Thanks for being honest. It's kind of refreshing.

Once again, I dont just hunt private land and much of the private land I DO HUNT IS UNPOSTED AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

My observations about the first day hunters were about the Allegheny National Forest where I've spent every rifle opener for almost 40 years.
It takes up most of Forest, Elk, Warren and McKean Counties. Most of it is in 2F but some is in 2G.

I have also archery hunted with friends for several years in western 2G but not lately. I did so prior to AR/HR and all I saw there were overpopulated stunted herds running around in an overbrowsed forest. I passed through the Sproul last winter and the part I saw the worst deer habitat I've ever seen in this state. There were very few deer tracks but the habitat I saw was absolutely devoid of deer food.
It's not going to get better anytime soon either. The habitat is severely overbrowsed and the timber is in pole stage but most tree species presentwere junk as far as wildlife is concerned. IMHO deer numbers need to be kept low there but an aggressive forest regeneration program is sorely needed as well.
