i only took one in my 4 yrs of hunting..it was this year and my 4th deer...little basket rack 6pt...but hes the first of many...and i think im going to try to set a bar that he will be the smallest...nice first buck though...beats alot of the spikes and 4pts my buddys take yearly...i rather have a big fat doe than a spike...i didnt care about antlers until i bagged my buck..it was opening morning..most people try to hold out for a buck...first light second deer we see dad drops..hes gutting it and a herd runs through..i dont grunt or anything to stop them so i can look for a buck..i blast the lead doe and was smiling ear to ear...then i sat back down after tagging and cleaning her and then the buck came through..man he made me feel like a little kid and made me look ridiculous jumping and pointing saying i got a buck!!...now im addicted to antlers..

JimPic, what part of Somerset do you hunt in? I hunt near Lower Turkeyfoot. I got an 8 with a 14 inch spread in Somerset. I hit an 8 with a 17 inch spread but he ran up to the guy that owns the cabin and he got him. We see a lot of basket 6 points, so hopefully they' ll get a chance to grow up a little bit.

I have 10.5 acres south-east of Berlin with a cabin on it-close to Brush Creek. We always see some really nice buck out there every year. This past rifle season,I missed an incredible 140-class 8pt.Great turkey hunting, too!

My biggest was a decent 8 pointer that I shot 3 years ago. With the recent antler restrictions and the area that I hunt it is rare to see a dandy buck in recent years. Hopefully that will all change starting this season or the next.
