Default Dead buck with head cut off in Long Island

I was walking to my stand the other morning at not 50 yards from my stand was a buck with its head cut off and the backstraps removed.I feel that is not ethical but I was wondering if it is legal. Can a hunter just tag the head and then leave the carcass in the woods? This is the second buck I found like this within a few hundred yards of one another. The other was a buck with its head cut off and it was left on the side of the road. Makes us hunters look bad to the public. JMO.

What do you guys think about this?
BTW each deer was shot perfectly behind the shoulder and i am suspecting poaching since the holes look more like bulletholes then broadheads.

Call the DEC and report the incident. Sounds like you've got a deer poacher on your hands. If the DEC documents the cases, then charges will be greatly increased when they catch the scumbags doing it.

Unfortunatley that is way too common in these parts. It`s all about some moron trying tosatisfy his ego andimpress his buddies. It is definitley not legal to cape out a deer and leave the carcass in the woods.Call the DEC-look in the syllabus that came with your license all the local CO`s home numbers are listed under region 1.While there is not much they can do in this particular instance,at least they will be aware of it.What town?I know a couple of the CO`s and can put you in touch with them if need be.

Yeah i spoke to officer Lawson she was very nice. This was in the town of Southhampton.

Worst part is that I have been hunting so hard and have seen nothing and this guy kills two bucks.
