Hey all we were thinking about purchasing some land in NY. My brother and I want it for hunting and atvs but more for hunting. We have been surfing Land and Camps. I was wondering if anybody could recommend an area to us? We are looking around the 20 acre range. Something with a small town close by so that we are able to get supplies, but definately nothing populated! Any help or questions drop me a line.
Thanks Dennis

Yeah tug hill would be decent along with the Adirondacks. I would be hesitant ontug hill b/c my experience finds that thedeer get out early because all the snow that eventually comes. You might wanna check out places in the Southern Tier as well b/c there's more deer there.

Used to hunt south wester NY and land was cheap and anything pretty much goes out there. Definately small towns that are quiet after dark. No jobs for locals but land for hunters and lots of corn to hunt. Farmers want hunters for help.

I would definitely think the western part of NY will be the best place to get the most for your money. There you will be able to buy land for less money and have a larger deer herd than most other parts of the state. Plus more doe tags are available there unlike the Adirondacks where they don't give any or the southern part of NY where they are not very easy to get in many parts of the region. The only problem I guess would be that it would be a considerably longer drive for you to get to from NH.

I have land in Steuben county, southerntier. excellent hunting, but the land has escalated in price in the last few years. small parcels 10 acres and less are going for about $1500 to $2000 per acre. larger parcels are well over $1000 per acre.
