Aaahhhh.

More "confirmed" sightings only no scat, hair or even tracks to be found.

Then again the DEC follows the cats around to clean up any sign of them. That is in addition to their other side job of working for the car insurance companies and ensuriing I never get picked for a bonus tag.

My brother in law keeps telling me he's seen one twice now within 2 wks of the sightings. He only tells me b/c he doesn't want people to think he's a BS'r. I believe it, it wasn't too long ago if you said you saw a bear around here people would call you a liar, now there allover.

I don't find it hard to believe that mountain lions could make a comeback in the north east. There very well could be a few out there that people have been seeing. The problem is that until someone can actually prove it then there is always going to be a debate. If this guy saw a cat and reported it but noone believed him then why not get a bunch of pictures and get them all over the internet? If I were to shoot a mountain lion I'd take a ton of pictures, video, etc. Call my buddies and call the local news before I ever contacted the game commission.

I believe it is possible. (maybe not a tracking collar but a collar of some type). It could easily be a pet cat that someone let go. I live on long island and it is fairly often that you hear of lions, tigers (no bears oh my) and alligators being found in apartments in thhe city and also on long island. I think that the stray or released pet is a more plausible option then wild or DEC released cats.

COUGARS are here in pa.
are they pet released, dont know.
are they wild ones, dont know..
were they released to kill of deer,dont know..
only thing we know that have seen themis they are COUGAR and they are here.

So off the wall, its hard to not laugh when I hear this one.

I am sure may have seen what that thought was a cougar - people make honest mistakes.It will take some real, varifiable evidence to prove otherwise - something never offered in all these "sightings".

Seems more people see "cougars" here then in states out west where there is proof they exist.
