Tioga County PA
#1
Moving outa' the flatlands of Delaware, to the mountains of Tioga County PA next spring. Don't know exactly where yet, but most likely near Wellsboro. I know there's alot of hunting camps, and the mountains are full of blaze orange during rifle season. That's ok, i'llbe in the woods duringarchery season. Does anyone live up there, orhas hunted up there, particularly Tioga State Forest or Susquehannock State Forest in Potter County? You don't have to reveal your secret spot, just give a new guy to the area a few leads
I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me. Thanks...Dave

First off welcome to PA!! And the rifle season isnt as crowded as some make it seem. Well at least not around me. Just stick clear of Game-Lands or public areas that arent that large. State forests are nice even though I personally havent hunted them but I know people who have. I live in Central PA which is 2 countys below yours. One thing I know about Northern PA where you are is the deer are A LOT bigger. They introduced some Michigan line deer up around there and you can tell the difference.
Good Luck this hunting season and hope you bag a big one

Dave,
Live just outside Wellsboro near Stony Fork area. I am an avid bow hunter and muzzleloader. We have some great hunting areas here, a lot of private wood lots and state forests and state game lands.
Deer is still good, especially during archery season and the turkey hunting cant be beat. Send me a pm any time and I will be glad to help.

I have hunted on Rattler mine road just S of Wellsboro , outide Morris , good hunting there... Wellsboro is a beautiful town, with the gas lamps and old buildings. My buddy buildt acamp up there and I helped him quite a bit, I am a little further West in Clinton Cty, not much deer activity there.....

We've had a hunting camp just outside of slate run for over 100 years and I have hunted there my entire life. It's probably a 40 minute drive south of wellsboro. I don't do much archery hunting up that way but I can tell you that come bear season you better get a tag. It's one of the best areas in the state to harvest a big bruin and I wouldn't pass on the opportunity. As far as deer I primarily hunt the tiadaghton state forrest which is wide open. The best spots I have found are usually above the food plots the DCNR has planted or along the trails that run through the laurel. I know a lot of the topo maps we have now designate where the foodplots are planted throughout the state forrests so that would be a decent starting point. Sorry I couldn't really be of more help.
