Just thought that I'd pass on a photo that my cousin sent me this morning. It was taken last night by a buddy of his (co-worker) in Madison County, NY. I can't believe the spread on this guy! He said there were over 100 deer in this herd.

Edited...

Photo shopped. I would not of taken another picture of that big buck by its self neither. And look how clear the other pictures are. Someone been duped by a friend or is doing it to some on here.

Here's a couple more pics. of those deer...minus the buck of course. Sure look like whitetails to me.AllI know is that the guy who took these isn't a BS'er and he sent these pics. to my cousin the other day saying thathesaw this herd of deeron Sunday evening.

farm hunter,

I know that the guy who took these photos is a diehard deer/turkey hunter. He lives near Onieda Lake and hunts almost exclusively in the Cazenovia area...so I'm assuming that that's were these deer are from too.

are you sure this is in NY?
ive never seen that many deer in one area... is this a ranch or free roaming!?

There are that many deer in spots, even more in others. You'll get that many together in harsh conditions

actually its perfectly legal to "feed" the deer, you just can bait, so in other words you cant hunt within like 1 mile of the feeders or if you take the food away you cant hunt thereafter 10 days or sumtin like that.

LI must have it's own set of laws.

Let me know where you feed and I'll be sure to contact your local DEC rep to slap you with your $250.00 fine and i'll bake you a cake with a file for your 15 day per violation jail term.

I am not doubting you, but it doesn't look like a whitetail to me. I copied your pic and tried to sharpen it up a little and it still doen's look like a whitetail to me anyways. They all look like some great pics though.

theres a diffrence between baiting and feeding, i dont see a gun in that picture so its not baiting

Where is LI? Is that a state? Sorry sir not sure about LI but in states with deer problems i.e. high densities it is illegal to feed. Bob Wehle god rest his sole of Elhew Kennels was warned on his 1000 acres not to feed or else and he didn't hunt deer. Just like in MA parks it is illegal to feed the ducks.

i hunt in ny, and everyone here feeds the deer, there like lawn ornaments here, and the feeders can be seen from the road and no one cares... if u say feeders arent alound ( when not hunting ) than your basiclly saying its ok to let deer starve to death during the winter, well if thats true ill take afine np

I was pretty sure any kind of feeding them was banned across the whole state. Call the DEC and see what they say!! As for that many deer in one place. Not unusual at all. I saw over 100 in one corn field last Friday near Rochester. I have pics of deer yards up north with hundreds of them.

As for deer starving the only reason that would happen is because someone is artificially inflateing the numbers by suplimental feeding and bringing the amount of deer over the carrying capacity. I have had over 160 inches of snow in the past 8 weeks and the deer are fine. None starving. And I doubt if one has ever strved on Long Island!
