Just checked on the status of S00858,a bill that would allow use of rifle for big game in Steuben, Yates and Chemung counties in NY. Something happened yesterday. Anybody know what it means?
S00858 Actions:BILL NO S00858
01/11/2007 REFERRED TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
02/27/2007 RECOMMIT, ENACTING CLAUSE STRICKEN

The bill was amended and sent back to the Senate where it has to be voted on again and then to the Assembly for their vote. Not sure what was amended, although looking at the bill it still shows the old big game hunting dates and not the new Saturday opener. If I had to guess, I would guess that it won't get passed this year.

The enacting clause is the statement at the end of a bill which says something like "This law shall take effect on January 1, 2007." When it is removed/stricken from a bill it means the bill is dead.
The proposal was reintroduced as A-6064/S-3219.
