I don't own any of the mentioned guns either and at a point in my life I used to think, so what, but I finally realized that this is about the taking away of rights.I probably willnever own the guns mentioned but I will fight tooth and nail that they remain legal because:
The Second Amendment, as passed by the House and Senate and later ratified by the States, reads:
“
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
”
The hand-written copy of the Bill of Rights which hangs in the National Archives had slightly different capitalization and punctuation inserted by William Lambert, the scribe who prepared it. This copy reads:
“
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed
Separation of church and state and abortion are not constitutional amendments yet they are respected to the letter, why not the 2nd amendment?
And if abortion is a violation of the rightto privacy than what about the gun buyer/owner?
Privacy is the ability of an individual or group to keep their lives and personal affairs out of public view, or to control the flow of information about themselves.
For these reasons I stand against violations of my rights protected under the U.S. Constitution.

Amen ,Amen,Amen ! Ladies and gentlemen, this is exactly the point of defending our freedoms. It's not about the type of weapons or number of them ; it's about our rights as citizens given to us by the constitution.
And make no mistake, that if this passes as it did the first time , it WON'T stop there. The Anti-gun crowd won't be satisfied until they ban ALL of our guns of any type. We as sportsman owe it to ourselves and the next generations to fight for theright of legal gun ownership.
We can not afford to let the anti's make ANY progress. We must call our State reps and congressmen and let them know that we do not agree w/ these types of bills.
It's up to us.

It's just a piece of paper. What your plan to stop this? Write on another piece of paper and send it to them? If you had any respect or belief for the constitution you would not be writting, You would be living the 2nd ammendment. Don't preach to me about doing anything. I see no one else doing nothing but giving in.You want to write and protect it but you all are to scared to live the constitution. Thats the hard core truth. Afraid to live it and die for it. So that is enough for me to join in and surrender. I am not goanna give my life for you if you are not willing to give yours for mine.

2nd Amendment. I suggest you read it, and then read the writings of our founding fathers.
Also, its about freedom, and regardless of whether you own one of these firearms, why would you support the loss of freedom and infringements on the 2nd Amendment? Surely you would not support any infringement of 1st Amendment or 3rd Amendment, so why the 2nd?
Finally, it will affect you when the precedence is set, and then a new target is acquired. Like, oh, 50 cal firearms.... NYS Assembly has been trying to ban 50-cal and larger projectile firearms for a couple years - even though it will not "stop criminals", not to mention not a single crime has been committed using a 50cal rifle. The reason given by the sponsor? "Well, it makes a really big hole!"
Its not firearms, its criminal behavior. Firearms ownership is protected by 2nd amendment. Read up, and defend your rights, and in the process defend the rights of your children, grand children and great grandchildren.

I don't own any of these weapons. Why should I care? It's not goanna affect me anyway.

But, you do have a good point in that many just stick their heads in the sand, whining about "what can I do about it". Well, get off your bippy, join some organizations, like the 2nd Amendment Foundation, the NRA, National Shooting Sports Foundation, US Sportsmen's Alliance, and not only join, but GET INVOLVED!
Join and become an active member in a Federated Rod & Gun Club. Get involved in your county Federation and be active in your own State's Sportsmen's groups.
Not immediate enough... Ok, how about you plan to attend the SPortsmen's March on Albany slated for March 13. Surely showing your support for hunting and 2nd Amendment Rights is worth a vacation day, is it not? You wanna know what you can do? MAKE SURE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD! And spread the word to activate the many thousands of outdoors enthusiasts across NYS and the USA. I sure as heck cannot do it alone, but that doesn't stop me from fighting. And in the course of my fight being waged, like Benjamin Martin's Militia, the more people join in and the larger our active ranks swell.
Remember, our Constitutional Rights are NOT based on NEEDS. They are based on FREEDOM. Stand up and protect them, and join us in the fight.

Outdoor Life And Jim Zumbo Part Ways
By Todd. W. Smith
Editor-in-Chief
Outdoor Life magazine Editor-in-Chief Todd Smith released the following statement today regarding writer Jim Zumbo:
February 2007
In light of comments made by Jim Zumbo in his February 16, 2007 blog posting on the magazine’s website, Mr. Zumbo has offered to terminate his association with Outdoor Life, and the magazine has accepted his offer. Accordingly, he will no longer be contributing to the magazine in print or online. His final column with Outdoor Life will appear in the April 2007 issue, which has already gone to press.
We respect Mr. Zumbo's First Amendment right to free speech, and we acknowledge his subsequent apology and admission of error. However, Outdoor Life has always been, and will always be, a steadfast supporter of all aspects of the shooting sports and our Second Amendment rights, which do not make distinctions based on the appearance of the firearms we choose to own, shoot or hunt with.
We regret this turn of events, as Mr. Zumbo has been a good friend to this magazine and lifelong advocate for hunters and hunting rights.
We appreciate the comments we've received from our loyal readers about this matter and encourage them to continue to correspond with us. Please direct any additional comments to [email protected].

I was a member of one of the largest supporters of the Constitution, The United States Army which means I took an oath to defend the Constitution, I am a member of the NRA which fights to protectour Second Amendment Rights, I am a member of the Tioga Sportmans Assoc. which as a group also supportsour Second Amendment rights and, finally YES I sent a letter to my Rep. from which I will insert an excerpt:
Mr.Hinchey
I am Concerned about a Bill regarding the ban of so called "Assault weapons" Sponsored by Carolyn McCarthy. I am against such a Bill and, feel that it is an attempt to violate my second amendment rights. The Bill is in the House Judiciary now, if it should come up for a vote I would appreciate your voting against it and any other Bill which would seek to disarm law abiding citizens. Thank you for your time.
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
