I'm in the north western PA area and it varies Swamp land and unbuildable acreage is really going up in price.Any where from 1 to 3 thousand an acre for junk land.

This will not be hijacked or spun into a PGC bashing thread.

The same is true in neighboring states. You can't make more land, but everyone wants their 40 acres. If it is not too steep and holds wildlife, even $3k is a pretty good price nowadays.

I paid 2,200 a acre in Pike County that borders State Forest 9 years ago.I have no idea what its going for at the moment! There's some big New York money moving into the area and of course you have the slot casino's near by. Its right near Pecks Pond and Hemlock Farms.

That sounds about right. If you can buy any land for $1000 an acre thats not a toxic waste dump you'd better grab it.

I paid $22000 for 7.9 Ac. 3 years ago in Western Maine righ on the Conway border. Now you can't touch it for $70,000. They say property values are going down but I can surly tell you not up there its still going up.

In 1981 I bought 180 Ac in Fla. Mass for $24,00 I wish I could do that again.

We hear allot of whining about hunting on public land ,but very few want to step up and buy their own land. I see hunters owning more land as the best offense we have in making sure youth hunters stay interested. If you spend the off season with your family working on your own land when success comes in the fall it will be the sweetest ever.
The investment in land will be one of the best you ever make.

around my area you can buy timbered land that has been select cut for $1500 the first acre and $750 for each additional acre with a min. of 40 acres.I bought 140 acres 6 years ago for $21,0000 but it had been recentlyclearcut.
I put an additional $3500 into bulldozer work to make food plots, and did it by having 50 yd wide swaths run alongside eachother seperated by75-100 yd widestrips I left go to scrub. since thenI opened up a spring to make a small (100' x 25') pond 4-8' deep for water.
I don't really need it for hunting as I have family land between there and home. I did it mostly to pull deer off SGL that abutts the land and give them a place to hold up when pressured by the kill a doe to save food for a buck crowd.
BTW last September Ibought 300 NO TRESSPASS signs and put themALL up on that 140 acres. Any fool that tells me they didn't know it was posted gets turned in.

I'm confused, less than a week ago you posted this on another thread:

my family hunts wherever they wish and the only land I own is where I'll be buried. My wife however owns 4oo acres and we do leave any of them that wishhunt there
I guess you will be buried on that 140 acres... or did you spend $21,000 for a cemtery plot, $3,500 for bulldozer work and then put a pond on it? Must be a big grave. Are you a portly fellow?

One thing about telling the truth, you dont have to worry about remembering what you said last week

Now that's classic.I wonder if there's grey or brown deer feeding in those food plots?
