If you want private land you have to get out there and start hitting all the residents on the east end and asking ! But if you want state land to hunt just contact DEC and they can tell you all the hot spots. There is more land then you can shake a stick at in the town of Brookhaven, and most of it from what I have seen never really gets hunted. Most people don't know it's open for hunting or they have there spots and don't leave them. There is also a tags for every deer you kill on the state land. When you shoot 1, just bring in the end tag and they will give you another 1 to go back out and hunt again. It's a no brainer, but alot of people still don't do it...

Good Luck

The "bonus permits" are for doe permits. If you get a doe tag on long island and shoot a doe you MUST bring in the head of that doe and your tag to get another "dmp" tag which is good for either sex. The minute you shoot a Buck on the bonus tag, you can no longer get a bonus tag. What i usually do is i get 2 extra doe tags when they come out on november 1st so there is no worries. You can shoot as mony does as you want as long as you keep bringing them back to the dec check station in ridge. As for hunting spot, I have been hunting out here for many years and grew up out here. There are plenty of unposted land out here that belongs to the county that you can bow hunt only during the season. You can also get you a county permit if you are a suffolk county resident and that opens up about 9 parks from yapank to east hampton and that is only 30 dollars witha green key....It also does not matter where you shoot the does at you can still bring them back to the check station for the dmp tag and the county will also give you another tag to hunt there properties and will give you a second tag as well they are both for either sex...i hope this helps you out...
