2 Massachusetts Brutes

Sorry I have no pics... but I saw the pics at the checkstation and here is a short blurb about it in the Berkshire Eagle. There was a pic in the paper of the real big one, but not online yet.
County hunter collects two trophy bucks[/align]
"Hunting with a primitive firearm last Dec. 22, Bill Tatro of Dalton bagged a 20-point buck which weighed 165 pounds dressed. Because some of the points didn't measure an inch long and some were broken off, it will go on record as only a 17-pointer. He expects that this deer will break the existing state record for a non-typical deer. It scored 189 7/8 on the Boone & Crockett rating system, but that may change after a period of time to allow the antlers to dry.
On Dec. 28, Bill went out and bagged another buck; this one a 10-pointer which weighed 185 pounds. Earlier, he passed up an 8-pointer to get a chance at the 10-pointer, which he knew was in the area. On that day, he had a little snow to work with and tracked him down. Both deer were bagged in the Windsor, Peru and Hinsdale areas between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
Lucky? No, I think not - it sounds more like skill to me. He has bagged "wall-mountable" deer in seven of the last eight years. In 1995, he bagged an 11-pointer which scored 184 gross and 177 net with Boone & Crockett and was the state record up until 2002.
Every time Bill goes deer hunting in the Hilltown areas, he has a positive attitude. He feels that there is always the potential of bagging a "real big deer," and hunts accordingly."
Wow... I've never seen a deer like this in MA... let alone a couple of brutes.
Congrats to him!

When I look where the deer where taken, it dosn't surprise me too much. These are not areas known to have allot of deer, but have allot of woods, and in kind face limited pressure. The bucks have a chance to get older.
Do you have a link for the story??

Wow thats great for this state. I know that those have got to be monster racks cause I know how I felt with mine and it was 144 4/8 and I thought it was huge. But I am suprised at the body size that seems a bit small to be sporting a rack like that in that area. Seems like they should be over 200 Lbs.

Yeah.. .The body size does seem small for that size rack... but it was late in the season... Last week basically.
Mike, your's was a freak in body size! I saw the pics of both of these deer @ Dave's Sporting Goods in Pittsfield. The hornswere unbelieveable.
Here is the link to the story. The physical Sunday Berkshire Eagle has a pic from 1/14.
