My father and I went out this morning.Walked in the woods and deer started snorting. At around 8:00 I seen a little buck coming through the laurel and I could not get a clear shot.Watched him go over the hill and I know he was about 200yds. from dad so I gave 3 bleats with the can and here he comes up towards me and beds down at a little after 8:00 with no shot.I'm watching him groom himself and I'm thinking please don't lay their to long.At about 8:30 he stood up and was coming to me and I was facing the tree.He comes about 35yds. and throws the nose in the air.I was in the wrong tree so I could not get over 15ft. and he seen me put the gun up but, he took the step I needed and it was over.Big bodied buck with about 9" spikes on him.Things been slow with the bow this year so I'm shooting what I can to put meat in the freezer.Shot two with the blackpowder but, still hoping to shoot one with the bow it's been awhile sinceI went a season without a bow kill.

I too hunt in Calvert County Natty Bumpo. What area in Calvert do you hunt? I have two nice spots. One is off of Sollers Wharf Rd. in Lusby and the other is in St. Leonard. I shot a medium sized doe opening morning around 9:30 after passing on a doe early and seeing a 6 pt. that never offered a shot. I also arrowed a nice 8pt. a few weeks ago in St. Leonard put never found it. Lots of blood on the vanes and a decent blood trail but after several hours of looking I never found him. Good luck everyone for the rest of the season.

Wow! That's one hell of a buck.
I shot a nice sika stag Saturday at 11:45, passed up a few whitetauil does in the evening.
Not many bucks killed in my group, lots of big does, though. No rutting activity to speak of. Anyone else experience that mini-hurricane on the Eastern Shore? Blew one fella right out of the tree on one of our properties. Nasty storm for a few minutes.
