RE: Sunday hunting in PA
I'm sorry but this whole idea that the animals need a day off is ridiculous! There is almost no hunting pressure during the week days now. Its an old fashioned idea that nees to go out with the abtiquated blue laws.

RE: Sunday hunting in PA
I say no to sunday deer hunting and yes to small game hunting... And yes to land owners to do both on sunday if they own and not lease property... It is the right of the land owner to do what they want ontheir property any day of the week...
By allowing this,,, You will have more people communicating with posted land owners to hunt their land... This could open up alot more land for people to hunt... I wouldn't be surprised if you see more signs that say's hunting with permission only in the near future if people communicated more with the land owners... This could be a way to get it started... Hunting private property only on sundays permitted with approved written permission from the land owner... No state game land or state forest deer hunting on sunday during any deer seaon... |
RE: Sunday hunting in PA
ORIGINAL: sproulman no to sunday hunting..give the deer a day of rest, how would you like to be chased around for 6 days a week with no rest to eat etc.. i see NO problem way it is now.. |
RE: Sunday hunting in PA
Dan,
Sorry I'm missing ur point. Do u own ur own property? |
RE: Sunday hunting in PA
Dan, The other point u mention of posted property being more accessible.
Most of the property that's posted now is by familys' who want to hunt thier own land w/o other hunter intrusion. Don't u agree? |
RE: Sunday hunting in PA
bearklr, its my opinion and you have yours..for us that can hunt during week or take a day off work, its fine way it is..
if the pgc only lets us hunt in the STATEFORESTLAND on sunday and not where privateland is,this will send more hunters to wmu2g to kill more of doe/fawns.. we have enough pressure on deer now on what is left..seasons are too long now, we dont want another day also to kill a doe.. there are other reasons too..i think the sunday hunting people lost a lot of support when they said,LET US HUNT IN WMU2G IF WE CANT BEAT FARMERS WHO DONT WANT SUNDAY HUNTING IN THEIR AREA.... MANY SUPPORTED SUNDAY HUNTING UP UNTIL THAT STATEMENT WAS MADE HERE IN WMU2G.. most dont want hunters coming here to kill off what doe and fawns are left.. many here are not hunting doe here anyhow, they go to allegheny county and down around harrisburg/philadelphia area do to lack of doe.. they all came back with doe and fawns this year.. i can understand someone that only gets saturday off but ,hell, i did it and still do it..i save my vacation for deer,i take personal day, i mark off sick, if i want..i get plenty of time to hunt.. i also hunt after work, hell, it does not get dark in archery until late..most i know go hunting after work..we get more time to hunt than ever ,sunday is not important or needed.. we are after SHORTER SEASONS,not increasing the time to hunt..why?because we are trying to save doe and fawns that are left for kids future..making more days to kill a doe or fawn, i am not for that.. sunday would put more hunters and more pressure on what deer are left.. now, say deer hunting was like 40 years ago, lots of deer, i would have different opinion on sunday hunting but with the handful of deer that are left here in wmu2g,we dont need more hunters killing more doe..this is why we want the doe season back to 3 DAYS.. if they would go back to 3 day doe SEASON ,keep AR 3 points for everyone, you could hunt buck on sunday, i would go along with it..i also would go along with first day of doe being on sunday/mon/tues.. so, i will come half way..keep AR and make it 3 points to side for EVERYONE,start 3 day doe on sunday, and let you hunt bucks on sunday in 2 weeks of buck..but if doe is allowed to be killed 7 days a week, i am not for sunday hunting.. this is only my opinion, many dont want hunters coming in here on sunday to kill off the DOE/FAWNS..if the farmers stop hunting in other countys on sunday, we will be loaded with hunters and what doe and fawns are left will be killed off.. i hope you see we are trying to save our doe and fawns..DOE SEASON should be closed or back to 3 days.. |
RE: Sunday hunting in PA
I support hunting on Sunday. I what another day to hunt.
As far as lossing priv. land, I don't know where you guys hunt but I think most of this state is already posted with what we call the PA state sigin. |
RE: Sunday hunting in PA
I find it difficult to believe that any of our fellow sportsmen are so blind that they can't see how times have changed andanti-hunting on Sunday is no longer anydifferent than anti-hunting on any other day of the week.

RE: Sunday hunting in PA
sproulman,
The number of days hunting will not affect the number of does killed. There will only be a certain number of doe tags issued for a WMU. The GC has addressed the hunter concerns by CUTTING BACK doe tags for 2G this year and will probably againfor 2007, not increase them. I for one do not have the luxury of taking as much time off as you do. The time I do have I save for archery season. With the average persons' work schedule the vastmajority of hunters I know , both gun and bow, want Sunday hunting. They work longer hours and have family commitments during the week. If I can hunt other species of game on Sunday , why not another. |

With the average persons' work schedule the vastmajority of hunters I know , both gun and bow, want Sunday hunting. They work longer hours and have family commitments during the week. If I can hunt other species of game on Sunday , why not another. here we go..right now, say its nasty weather on sat.both sat of 2 week of doe..in comes hunters for sat hunt, only day you get off..now you cant hunt sunday..bad weather caused bad hunting.. from a looking at saving a doe point of view, not having sunday hunting saved many doe.. you said about doe permits..first it should be county permits not 8 countys ..wmu are too big ,it should go back old way..if we want to save our deer.. next, dont forget the dmaps etc.. we ALL went thru work schedule thing, been there done it and still do it.. when it was 2 weeks of buck, 3 day of doe,i used to take first 2 days off of buck, then sat off, then next sat off, then 2 days of doe ..thats 6 days to hunt, that was always fine with me..if you look thats only 1 week of your vacation if used like i did.. like said, if there was lots of deer like 40 years ago,i have no problem with sunday hunting.. but with lack of deer, i want ones left to have a day of rest and that is one day that us hunters will not be able to kill a doe or fawn.. we have to wake up and understand, we just cant keep killing all these deer and expect to have deer in future..i would not be talking this way if i did not see end to hunting DEER.. |
