I hunt 7m also. I hardly saw anything, just a couple does and a fawn that hung out by my house like 50 ft from me and didn't care i was there. Heard a lot of shots all day on sat. a lot more than last year. what annoys me is that most seemed like they were 2 or more shots in a row. if you can't make a good shot, don't shoot. i heard one guy rattle off 5 shots in a row...that should never happen.

This year was my first archery season and i never realized how nice it is to go in the woods w/o hearing shots all day long.

Here in 7F ive been seeing some activity, but nothing within range... everythings about 125 yards out. :(

It never ceases to amaze me that our hunting party can go all day without shooting and every hill and valley around us sounds like world war III.....

sat a total of 22 hours this weekend and saw 5 deer. I missed a nice 8 point at 1:30 pm. It was my fault. I flinched when I shot WTF. Sat 4 hrs tonight and saw nothing. My trail cam isn`t showing to many pics either. Where did all the deer go? My grandma says they all go up to the hills when they hear the shooting. I hunt Canastota area(madison county) Real slow opening weekend. Not to many shots fired all weekend. Is it not alot of deer or is it less hunters?

I just got back from 6P it appeared to be a pretty slow sat and sun but I was fortunate and shot a 4 pointer at 2;30pm on sat. It was the only deer I saw all day(always sit dawn to dusk opening day). My friend and his dad saw nothing. i hunted sundayand missed a doe at 1:30 pm and saw a total of 3 deer that day. My friend and father saw nothing.I thought that the massive rain may have altered things somewhat as my stand was not by the creek it was now in the middle of the creek or was it a lake by now. The water did receded by late sun pm. i didn't hunt today as I had to drive back downstate but my friend went out with4 of his buddies and everyone saw deer, one decent 8 was taken and each person missed a buck. Gotta work the next several days so next time I will hunt will be next monday in 3P(orange county)and probaly do some archery hunting in 3s(westchester county). Gotta fill them doe tags:D

7M - Lots of shots Saturday - still weird with the Saturday opener -
More than the past few years with doe permits again (finally) in 7M.

Lots of artillery Saturday AM on the border of 7A and 7F near Cato. Quiet since then. A lot less deer in my area of the woods this year. Anyone else in the Cato/Ira area have luck ?

In 3M we had a few shots,not like in the past. i counted 43 deer in one day and they were all tiny does and buttons. saw one decent buck but i had taken my pistol with me instead of a rifle to make a lil more challenging so i didnt have a shot but 20 minutes later heard a shot so i figure he is gone. i could be wrong seeing how he made it past opening day.. i went out monday looking for a mature doe and ended up taking a piebald doe... i am goin back tomorrow

I hunt 9M and the only person I saw in the woods all day Sat Sun and Mon was my brother.

I saw a couple of small does that I let walk but this is the first season since I started hunting that I did not see anyone out - Kind of strange - Did everyone forget that it was opening week or were license sales really down in NY this year. Well I leave Sat for my camp in PA - I'll be thier all week for a second opener - hopefully with a little better results.

I kind of liked it being in the woods all alone though - kind of like Archery with more of an advantage - i just would have setup different if I knew no one was going to be out - I usually cannot go 100 yards without seeing anyone standing there.

I hunt 7R and logged 24 hours in a treestand the first three days and only saw 2 deer.Out of 12 guys in our camp we saw only 2 bucks total the first 3 days.No where near the amount of shots we usually hear.
