Congrats Wvhunter. I went hunting in my fathers housing developement. I was 100 yards from the houses in the woods with the perfect set up. They have been spotting several bucks in the area feeding on yard plants. I was in the tree well before day break. I saw a doe and spike buck at first light. I then saw a 6 pointer just a tad above its ears, and another smaller scrub 6 pointer all within bow range. I figured Iwould hold out for one a bit bigger. They have been spotting a nice wide racked 8 pointer, so he was on my mind. At about 11:30 I radioed my buddy and told him that I was climbing down for a bit, the moment i lowered my bow and it hit the ground I reached around to unsnap my tree stand pad strap and there was the 8 pointer walking on the ridge above me. I quickly raised my bow without being spotted and even left the cord attached. The buck was going away from me and I figured he was at 40-45 yrds away. I took range readings earlier in the day. He stepped clear of the tree and I let my arrow fly, I heard a thud and the deer seemed to kick up and when he took off he jumped sideways over a pile of logs. I waited 15 minutes and went over to see any sign. I could not find blood, hair, or my arrow. We looked for a long time and could not find evidence of anything. My arrow might have glanced off some limbs as I had one knee in the seat and bending and stooping down when I shot. I just couldnt figure it out.

I am lobbying for a nationwide CCW permit. I have my WV carry permit and I had to get a Florida permit just so I can carry in my neighboring state of Ohio. With the WV and Florida permits, it enables you to carry in 27 states. I think that if you have it in one state, it should be honored in all the others and vice versa.

I'm with mkiesslinggop. They need to put cell towers on those mountains and increase service! It would be one thing if small areas didn't have coverage, but HUGE areas of the state don't have service. I have cingular, and used to get service. Now with analog gone, I CAN'T get service. What's more, there are NO PLANS to have service over MASSIVE parts of WV. In this day and age that is absolutely ridiculous!
