Icalled my wife from my stand Saturday morning to let her know I had shot a small doe. And even when I recovered the deer I still thought it was adoe until I went to field dress her and found the male body parts. Then I reached over and folded down the ears and and saw the buttons.

Calling Rob a black eye to hunting is interesting, DD.
I didn't know that we are in an "earn-a-buck" state.
Last I heard, we all have the choice of what we shoot.
You say there aren't enough deer in PA anyway.
Those that refrain from shooting does should make you happy.
I sometimes have a hard time figuring out just where you stand.

Thanks for giving PA bow hunters another black eye. I thought all archers were willing to do their part in controling the herd , but I guess I was wrong. I suppose the truth is that most archers are trophy hunters who leave the work of managing deer populations to the rifle hunters who they often look down on as inferior hunters.
Are you refering to me, I see you replied directly to me. PLEASE tell me how I'm possibly giving PA bowhunters a black eye. What I choose to shoot is my business. Interesting enough there are huge RIFLE clubs in my area that refuse to shoot doe period so tell me why is deer management left to rifle hunters?

Tell me why because I chose not to get a doe tag that I'm leaving any herd management to anyone. You make me laugh.

Rob posts represents the position of the trophy hunting elite that want to leave the work of herd control to the rifle hunters while reapng the benefits of ARs ,before rifle hunters have a chance.

Leave the work to rifle hunters,
what work? Sling lead, dead deer...makes a rifle hunter happy and I didn't take his tag, yeah hard work.

Why shouldn't I reap the benefit of AR, I've been passing 1.5 year olds, spikes and 4 points long before AR....AR has nothing to do with my standards of shooting bucks.

before rifle hunters have a chance.
..oh cry me a freakin river, no one is stopping anyone from taking up archery and again, I've earned the right, I've practiced AR long before AR was law. I'm passing bucks that rifle hunters drop so I'm benefiting rifle hunters and each buck I pass that falls to a rifle makes me want to puke.

Just because I set my own standards of harvest you catagorize me as a trophy hunter elite. I chose to not to get a doe tag this year, OH MY G, I'm evil. Your misconceptions are laughable. You know nothing of my area, nothing of my hunting grounds yet you judge the whole state by my single tag. The tags in my area are sold out so guess what, what difference does it make that I didn't take a tag from some one else. The tag is still sold. Passing all bucks 2.5 years and younger is doing more for herd management than not taking a doe. Again, you make me laugh.

I think deerfly AKA DD AKA deaddeer AKA ddear AKA beenthere has made it pretty clear where he stands.

The world according to deerfly:

We should fire all the wildlife management professionals and let deerfly and his calculator manage the herd. He is the only one qualified to manage the deer herd properly and he has the calculator to prove it!

Bow hunters are bad people, they reap the benefits of AR before gun hunters have the chance.

All bowhunters are trophy hunters and trophy hunters are bad people even if they often only shoot does while letting young bucks walk.

Hunters who chose to let a buck walk to maybe grow bigger are bad people. They have no empathy for less skilled or commited hunters who can't find a buck to shoot.

Hunters who shoot button bucks that aren't part ofdeerfly's gang are bad people unless those huntersARE part of his group and cant find a doe to shoot. If that happens it's OK for deerfly and company to shoot 5 out of 6 button bucks. After all, thats all they saw!

The fact that we only have 69 youth coming in to our sport toreplace every 100 hunters who die or get too old to hunt has nothing to do with declining license sales, it's all the fault of AR and those evil bowhunters!

I've slipped 4 shafts into 4 BB already this season, all on public land! I love the meat and the PGC is giving us their blessings by offering so many doe tags. I couldn't give a rat's butt about saving bucks for the horn hunters in 3-4 years. If it is legal it is down!! As far as I'm concerned if the PGC wanted them protected they would simply make it a law that any male deer be tagged with your 1 buck tag.

Just to tell let everyone know.........i had 10 deer come right under my stand opening day bow....glassed each one for while and finally picked the doe out that I wanted. There were at least 3 button bucks in the group....let them live

As luck would have it the number just went to 5 since 9/30 !! This time I honestly didn't know it was a BB till I recovered him. I think I'll slow down as I only have 2 more DMAP and my original doe tag and buck tag left till flintlock season is done with in January...must scoot an pull his hide. EC :)

Just so ya know....archers, most times, are rifle hunters too.
I wish some would quit with the "Them" and "US" mentality.
We are hunters. I know of very few guys that exclusively hunt archery.
