Will be hunting Maine this fall. Has anyone heard any forecasts yet? Spoke to a couple of guys that saidMaine didn't get much snow last winter so they're hopeing for a better than usual harvest this season.
Any input from Maine hunters/residents would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Try (huntingchat.net index) and click on number 1 most of those folks are from Maine and they will be more then happy to help you out. I hang out there quite a bit. And from what they tell me and what I have seen on my scouting trips I think its gonna be a banner year.

Mike...I saw in another thread that you're USN - retired. I'm former USN also, only discharged...not retired. I still keep in touch with some Navy buddies and we pretty agree that while we were 'in', we couldn't wait to get 'out', and now that we've been out, for more than a few decades, we agree being 'in' wasn't so bad. Just another example of how youth is wasted on the young I guess. Thanks for the link "Mate".

Ahoy,
No problem glad to help. The lifer career was no picnic either! Just ask my wife and kids. To be truthful with you I wish I got out after 4 years myself. The retirement and Benifits keep getting less and less. And to be a career military man today is crazy. Imagin in the navy was bad enough but could you imagin being USA or USMC and reupping for back to back tours in Irac and with N Koreer and Iran looming. And then yu have such a lousey retirement and benifits package. Ya right get ouut and work for GM or Guilett or any place. Even better go to school. I thought I was doing a great thing for my country till I figured out no one cares but they exspect you to be there in time of need, even if we don't give you the tools you need or the parts to repair the junk you have. Remember how the civilans used to prey on the military with there sales pitches and gimicks and try to rip you off every chance they got. I don't miss it not one bit. Sorry but thats the feelings of a retiree looking back. Don't feel bad you did the right thing everyone should have to do 4 years but no more. Thats just my 2 cents.

Mike, you did what you thought was right. It is sad with budgets being cut that it hits retiree's in their pension and benefits. I think one thing is the same whether you do 20 yrs. or 4 yrs., you appreciate things so much more on the outside. That's one very important lesson our youth is missing since the 'Draft' was done away with. Big mistake in my opinion. As for being appreciated while/after serving, forget it! Sadly a lot of American's just don't get it, and never will unlessa 'threat' is knocking on their front door.I knowexactly what you're saying, it was the same when I was in back in the60'sduring Vietnam.
Let it go...and enjoyyour life now. Have a good & safe hunting season.
