Arrows and broadheadsall set. Now I just have to get my clothes washed. Oh yea, I've got to buy my license yet. Can't wait!

Been practicing a bit, but waiting to get my new string on and new arrows to get real serious. We have a great crop of beechnuts this year in my area. Lots of deer - should be a good season.

Things are looking real good in South Otselic. Sure will be nice to hunt an area where there are a few deer left. Bye bye Pa. Hello New York:D

I hunt both NY and PA so I can start in 29 days. I'm pretty pumped, but I'l be more pumped towards the end of Oct. How ever I've yet to see a good buck around my areas yet. Thats typical though. They usually turn up about the second week of October.

I start my hunting in NJ, so I'll be out by Sept 30th. I might not even bowhunt NY this year, although I did get my license. If I do, it will be in suffolk County with my friend.

It's going to be an interesting year for me. I bought a new bow and I have to start all over getting ready for the season. I'm all set with my old bow just incase I can't get comfortable with my new one by the opener. We've been seeing a lot of deer in Gainsville!

I'm goin to hang my tree stands this weekend, still waiting on my new bow. I ordered a Matthew's switchback xt, but it takes a month to get them in.

I can't wait. I might have a new job so my season might be cut short but it pays alot more so I can buy some new toys.

I watched two eights move in to the field that borders my opening day stand (per wind variations). Nothing like watching them mill about in the field for hours upon hours.

Luckily for me, I get to watch them from afar, so now comes the point where I spend an hour or two each week watching the entry point and what time they enter the field.

Still waiting for my new Hoyt to come in then once that comes in, gotta get it set-up and shooting. On top of that I may be starting an unexpected job which will cut into my dreams of not having work andb eing able to hunt all week, lol, but it pays my student loans. Have some new land to hunt down by Wellsville and I guess there are some huge bucks running around on it including a droptine. Should be interesting...

Chenango...NICE BUCK. We wentto camp yesterday. HUGE tracks about 50 yards from my stand. Right under an apple tree. Hope they keep feeding for the next 27 days.

Apples seem to be dropping a little early this year, our trees are getting hammered.

I'm starting to twitch[8D]. The problem is everything is done and ready. Stands are set, lanes trimmed, bow tuned and ready, clothes washed, gear and gadgets ready, etc... 28 days of waiting and scouting from afar.

nybowhunter 09-17-2006 07:04 AM

RE: Southern NYer's count down

I got that nervous twitch too. I was up at 6 this morning thinking about my hunting plans for this season. I couldn't sit still so I pulled my gear down from the garage. What a mess! I have all my spring turkey clothes mixed up with my archery and shot gun clothes and they are all mixedinto a large bin. I guess I'll start sorting and washing today. While I do that,I'm going to make some venison chili and watch the Bills-Miami game just to celebrate the season.

Have you guys noticed an abnormally high # of does/fawns this year? I don't recall ever seeing some many. I guess it is due to the last two mild winters we have had.
3 weeks till go time!
