A friend of mine got a letter from Assemblyman Jim Bacalles on this subject.. He confirmed that is was not voted on in the latest session by the assembly BUT he expects the assembly will probablyre-convene in the fall and it is likely it WILL pass at that time...

So, dust off the .270, but don't sell your slug gun YET...;)....

Hope Steubenmakes it, my camp is only a half mile from the Steuben/Tioga Co. PA line. Kinfolks have been buggin' me for years to get a NY license and hunt over there with them.Probably be more inclined if I could use a rifle.

Was just over ata cousin'sdaughter's farm near Troupsburg last weekend. Darn fine deer country. They killed a couplenice bucks there last season and have permission to hunt on a good bit of ground in that area. Cousin also can hunt on his old dairy farm, that's just over the borderon theNY side, near my place.

Best of luck on the bill getting passed.

So there's still hope for this year, that's great! That won't leave much time for a guy to buy a new rifle and get it all set up before season though. Can you tell us what month "fall" might mean?

According to Bacalles's office, IF(and it's a big if)they re-convene it would be either late September or October.
