Squirrel and grouse (depending on part of the state). Hunting those 2 animals is a good way to hunt while scouting public land at the same time.

How about crows? I went once with a friend who had an electronic caller and darned if they didn't come in right after he put on the tape on our first setup!

There really isnt a big selection to choose from. I think squirrel and rabbit are the only things in right now. I usually start hunting trout and walleye this time of year, it will hold me overuntil turkey season.

If I had the time, I'd go after some crows and some coyotes. (Coyotes can only be hunted during normal daylight hours though- no hunting with an artificial light outside of fox season).

SIDEWAYS, those electronic callers work pretty good, and if you have any decoys, several on the ground and in small trees should help bring them in. If they aren't migrating, you really need to move after a little while to a new setup.

Doug, you are correct about those electronic callers, I could not believe how many crows we got to circle.
We ended up shooting 3 before it started raining.
Somehow the crows just are not worth waiting for in the rain, like a deer is.
I can't wait till we go again.
