Looking for archery range on Mass. North Shore
Does anyone know of a good archery range (indoor or outdoor) close to Lynn, MA? I've had a bow for many years and I think I've gotten to the point in hunting where I would like to actually get proficient and go bow hunting. Unfortunately, my house does not have anyplace where I could set up a mini-range for my own use.

try to call mystic valley gun club in malden and ask them. they might have a listing of who's around. I would just get some hay bails and set up somewhere in the lynn woods! but knowing the area that might get you arrested or shot!!!! heehee

Don't know of any public ranges (there used to be one in Lynn, also Middleton-Rt 114 but both gone). Try searching the different sportsman clubs or Essex County Sportsman clubs. www.Goal.org might have a list of clubs too. I know the Danvers Club, Georgetown club and othershave ranges but have to be a member.

You could attend a Bay State Archer 3-d shoot, http://www.baystatearchers.com/bay_state_calendar.html
This group would be a good place to shoot 3-d targets and maybe learn by shooting with more experienced archers.
You could contact the Mass Bowhunters Association and ask for help.

But probably the best idea would be to buy a bag target from anywhere for cheap and head to the beach. How far are you from the public beach at Nahant? Almost nobody is on the beaches this time of year and setting up your bag target and shooting on the beach would be great hunting expierence with the wind, and finding a miss in the soft sand wouldn't be hard at all.
I know of 3 indoor leagues as well, Teepee Archery in Acton, Woburn Sportsmens Association in Bedford and Tyngsboro Rod and Gun in Tyngsboro.
That should get you started.
