Default Controlled Bait Hunt in syracuse

Saw this in the paper plus it was on the news the other day. I have mixed feelings on this.

i think if they want to lower the deer population, opening it to restricted bowhunting would be a good way to go
but i dont like the idea of a controlled bait and hunt to wipe them out.

that is a real nice park, just wish they would let you bring canoes, instead of their row boats.

I will take it. I personally don't care because I believe you have to hunt over a bait site or not at all in the park. I don't think they will let hunters wonder around to look for stand sites. If people start to complain then they might just hire someone to come in and shoot them all like they do at Hancock Airport. They hire a specialist to shoot them and he can't take them he has to leave them there. Meat,Rack everything. I think it is a good start. maybe we can prove that we can be responeable and maybe in a few years they will open the doors and give more options. I want my name in the lottery for a chance to hunt there. There are some big bucks in the park.

I flew over the park last year in a helicopter and I`d guess there is around 1500-2000 deer on the parks land. 3 of us were counting groups of 50-60 deer in fields. I`m going to apply to hunt there.

Me too!! I think it is a great way to help out by taking a deer from there. Just think you might be saving a life that could have been takin by a car/deer accident.
