RE: Let's face reality in PA
"BTBowhunter"money from a Pheasant stamp nor any portion of that money, cannot be designated for Habitat Improvement. The reasonI say that is the last license increase deligated $3 specifically for Habitat Improvement. The combined money deligated for Habitat Improvement from Antlerless Tags and the regular license comes to $6 dollars total, and you can see how the money was misappropriated for other things such as Timber. The agency is like an errant child when it comes to money. No, any stamp money must be used for bird propagation or purchase.
And there's pleanty of land suitable for restablishing a Wild Pheasant Population. The agency just has to want to do it. We never had an Elk herd reaching the 1000 mark before. We do now, why? Because the agency sees it as a source of revenue. It's not rocket science. Many other states do it. The PGC is simp;y run by incompetent managers. |
RE: Let's face reality in PA
As long as the stamp wouldn't get the same fate the extra turkey tag did.To make a long story short,in the wording the money generated from the extra tag was supposed to go toward improving turkey habitat etc.Wording was changed so that may not happen.

RE: Let's face reality in PA
IMHO Turkey Habitat in Pennsylvania is just fine. Keep in mind that turkeys are esentially woods birds and Pennsylvania Game Lands are primarily woods. In fact, 93 % of all Game Lands is wooded.
To improve the habitat for turkeys one would have to introduce more and different species than is desired for timber interests. You don't really believe that's going to happen any time soon do you? Imagine if you can, our Game Commission placing Game interests above Timber interests. |
RE: Let's face reality in PA
I agree with BTBowhunter, Germain and Crazy Horse. The $40 stamp would be a great idea IF THE MONEY ACTUALLY WENT TOWARDS BIRDS OR IMPROVED SMALL GAME HABITAT.
IMO, The PA Game Commission is a bunch of dishonest thieves when it comes to managing game and the condition of PA's habitat. Far too many times, well-intentioned programs have been sidetracked or eliminated, and far too many times their have been discrepancies in what hunters have contributed versus what the game commission has given them back. I am sure that there are some good individuals in the group, but the good ones are far outshadowed by the ones that have been repeatedly stealing the funds that the hunters, taxidermists and others have been contributing for years. I honestly believe that they are just a bunch of burglars whom have traded in their striped suits and masks for a pair of olive drab clothes, a hat, a badge, and a side arm. - Gr8ful |
