RE: WalMart Ammo Sales Petition

I get tired of seeing one guy post "against the grain" and everyone else wants to jump his a$$. I see it all the time on fishing boards. It gets old after a while. If you post in agreement know one says a word, but god forbid if you disagree, then its a free for all.

Very true coolerpup.
I won't sign it either. How many mom/pop sporting goods stores have gone out of business in the past 10 years in your towns?
Ask someone who works at Wally world how many hours they get, how much they make....not good for any town.

Not a single one. If anything I've seen more dealers open up shops. I'm tired of hearing people whine and cry about how Walmart or any other major chain of stores has "put a local store out of business". Anyone in business has to accept the reality that there will always be competition. Walmart and similar stores have their strength in their ability to make mass purchases for general products. Any sporting goods store owner, whether their prices are being undercut by a Walmart or another Mom and Pop owner in their area who is able to sell for less, needs to either close up shop or adapt. The logical way to adapt is to provide products that are not available through their competition. With firearm sales that is not a difficult task at all. Gunsmithing services is another area that should be emphasized.
In a free market you adapt or you die. Get over it.

I used to work part time in the sporting goods department of my local Walmart. I had more hours available to me than I was able to work. The pay was not outstanding but very few part time jobs fall in that category. The employee discount is an excellent benefit however which personally saved me several hundred dollars in a very short period of time enabling me to add several firearms to my collection.

With all of that said, the point of this petition is to urge a business to stand up to anti-Second Amendment pressure. It is not a pro-Walmart, anti-mom and pop petition. We as firearms owners, hunters, and/or supporters of the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms need to stand together to rally support whenever our rights are threatened. If you are willing to trade the Second Amendment for the elimination of a local business's competition then you are as much an enemy of the right to keep and bear arms as any gun control nut. You might not like to hear that but it is the plain truth of the matter.

Oh, and Coolerpup, this is not jumping on someone's a$$ that happens to voice an against the grain opinion. It is pointing out a fatal flaw in the logic of a fellow hunter or firearm owner in an attempt to combat what is growing to be a Constitutional crisis in this country. If that offends you I say again, get over it. The need to support and defend the Constitution is somewhat more important than your personal petty prejudices.

In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man; brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot. — Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)

As for the side discussion, The smaller the better????? WHEN SOMEONE THINKS THAT, IT OCCURS TO ME THAT IS THE SAME MENTALITY USED FOR GUNS BY THE GUN CONTROL NUTS, IF ONLY COPS HAVE GUNS THEY CAN'T BE USED FOR CRIMES. IF ONLY THE MOM AND POP STORES HAVE AMMO WHAT IS TO STOP THEM (SARA BRADY, ETC. ETC.) FROM SUEING THEM INTO CHAPTER 11, CAN YOUR MOM AND POP AFFORD IT, WALMART CAN. I LOVE WALMART SELL MORE GUNS, AMMO, GEAR THAT I CAN PICK UP WHILE I'M BUYING TRASH BAGS.

I didn't see what my number was, but it was just about to go over the 10,000 mark when I signed it--maybe I was number 10,000! What disappointed me was some of the vulgar and childish remarks some people made under the comments section. Those who felt they had to be as vulgar and obscene as possible gives the rest of us a black eye.
