I cut the dates and fill out the tag entirely as soon as I'm standing over the deer. I put the tag on when its in the truck.

i fill the tag out and keep it in my hand now i killed a deer 3 yrs ago put the tag on the ear drug the thing over a mile and tag was gone.
we always cut a slit in the ear, put the tag on the inside of the ear, curl it around the tag, then tie the string around the ear holding the tag so it isnt exposed to the terrain at all while beign dragged

I've always done it same as you - I hunt on our own property - I usually don't tag it till back at camp.

As soon as the guts are gone the tag is on.
Good one or how 'bout...tag it then drag it!I tag mine right away. I fill it out andjust put the safety pin license holder through the ear.
