i wasnt bow hunting but i was in venengo co checking on a friedns camp and shooting in the deer rifles and playing with the 22 pistols with my dad...we seen about 8 hunters cars...and only one had a deer and it looked to be a doe...on the way home all the vehicles were still there...we seen a live doe on the way home...it was pretty cold out up there...like 60 i think...and windy and cloudy until 3 or so...then the clouds gave out a bit...i dont think it was a great first day...on this side of the state atleast...weather just wasnt good....wind gusts were getting pretty high and always a constant brezze..good luck to al you bow hunters...leave one for me!

I was hunting from the ground and had a doe about 15 yards to my left. I stood motionless looking at her and then she ran away. Must have got my scent. My friend saw 4 does today and shot at one but went over its back.

In the morning I saw a spike and 4 does and in the afternoon I saw 5 buck-4 were legal AR deer and didn't see and brow tines on the other one,and 20 doe.Pretty good day and I usually don't shoot on the opener-I just like to watch and see what's on the property.Next weekend when I go up to the cabin,we're gonna be in hunt mode.

Had a lone deer slip a few yards past my stand at first light into a standing corn field for the day, couldn't tell what it was........Should have sat the same stand in th evening. I picked one 75 yards further up a small draw that had more converging trails. Well saw one deer tonight coming back the exact opposite direction as the morning deer on the same trail.......a real nice buck. Figures.
I have an idea where I'll be Monday.

Nothing in The morning, Had my 13 year old with me but he decided to stay home in the afternoon. I went to one of our double treestands and had a 12-13" wide 7 pt sniffing my treesteps and a spike followed him in and did the same thing. (Too bad the kid wasn't there!) A couple of smallish does were out at about 28 yards. I passed rather than take the chance on them having buttons.

All in all, a good day. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

All things considered, I had a good opener. My goal was to harvest a doe on tape. Well, I have the deer on tape, but she kept feeding just out of bow range for so long that I put the camera on standby until she made her move. When she did come up the trail into my shooting lane, I checked the veiwfinder and she was right in the middle so I put a Rocky Snyper through both lungs. After a 25yd. dash she went down. As I started to zoom in on her I noticed that the camera was still on standby! Hey, thats why I work for a living instead of making hunting videos! I saw about twenty deer on saturday, only one was a buck, but I did see a good sized bear, and got a brief clip of him on tape.

Saw four does in the AM. They were out 40 yards. Way too far for my recurve. Spooked a big single on the way out. Never saw anything but brown. Hunting public land with no competition. Great day to be alive.
