Default How is season looking for you PENNSYLVANIA boys???

So, hows it look for the opener for you guys? It is looking great for my best friend and I here in Indiana County. We have our stand sites picked out and we have shooting lanes cleared. My game camera gave me a GREAT perspective as to when to site in the stands. One thing that I found most amazing is the amount of deer travel on these trails from 1:00-3:00 P.M. I mean, I got a good 15 pics of doe moving on a trail that leads past my stand all during the mid-day/early afternoon time.

Also, I saw the Ghost Buck. He is still hanging around. I saw him about 20 yards from where my best friend will be on the first morning. He got bigger from last year. He is no longer a 10 point, he is an 11 point. He has a slightly bigger spread, but no much. He is probablly in the 20-21 inch range. He did gain alot more mass, and, his points are all roughly an inch longer.

We have been seeing TONS of bucks around while spotting and scouting, even though we never managed to get them on the Game Camera. We have seen about 7 or 8 different bucks in the plot of woods that we are hunting. There are only two that we would classify as shooters, so, its gonna be tough for my friend and I to fill both our buck tags, but, it could happen.

Also, we both got one doe tag each, we should have had atleast two, but, the county treasurer made a mistake and when we called about it "they had sold out of tags and they couldn't do anything about it". My grandfather got two doe tags, so, hopefully we can get 4 doe out of this little piece of woods.

The acorn crop is terrible this year though. We had to pattern the deer differently than last year. Now, instead of moving through oaks and browsing till they got to the standing cornfields surrounding the property, they are using thick trails through brush to enter the corn.

Well, I have to go to work, gotta make some money. Talk to yall later.

Johnny Sneakum, if you only have negative things to say, please, do not post it on the subject. I am only looking for good legitamite answers that will get people pumped for season. I don't want your negative views to ruin this.

Looking okay for me in Warren county. Loads of sign and alot of deer....haven't seen any wallhangers yet, but the best is yet to come. Good luck to you in your little chunk of heaven down there!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I am planning a trip to Chester county. The landowner tells me there is a 16 point in his yard every night and several other good bucks, so I'm hoping I get an opportunity at a wallhanger while I'm done there....only for a day and a half hunting though. We'll see!

Good luck this season Buck Magnet. I think old Loch still doesn't like you any<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>!

I'm in Monroe County and never saw so many bucks that would make the book as this year. If they are going to be around when the season opens is anyone's guess. As soon as they rubbed out we've been hearing shots at different times just as it's getting dark.Today found 3 spent 30-06 cases in parking lot of range I work at. We figure someone came in after hours and might have been poaching. We notified police and local wardens to be on the look out. Trespassers and poacher had better watch out. We catch thier a$$es thier in big trouble.

Things are looking good here also BM. I have been sitting in various treestand positions since early August, scoping out the local herd. I have 4 bucks using the particular area that I plan on hunting. 3 of them are shooters by today's legal standards. Hopefully I will get a crack at one on Saturday. If not then I will be more than happy to shoot a doe either in the morning or afternoon.

I was out scouting this past weekend and found the first rubs of the year in my area. 3 different subsections of the woodlot contained the rubs. One was right next to the field I have been seeing the bucks in. One is about 200 yards from that spot in some really thick territory and the last one is about 70 yards from the first, across the road in the middle of an Oak grove which has been dropping acorns ridiculously for the past week and a half.

Try to take a guess where I am going to set up the first day. I really have no clue to be honest with you but it will be in one of those three spots. I have pics but they are at home. I will definitely post them later today though.

My main spot looks pretty good. Lots of deer, good numbers of bucks. I have 2 doe tags and look to fill them soon. Since I have located some nicer bucks, I am going to make an attempt at them, we'll see how that goes. Acorns and cherries are spotty, the corn was crappy and much has already been picked.

Some things are true whether you believe them or not.

Thanks for all who responded in a civilized manner. As for you Johnny, please, just give up your little act. It is getting old, and, I for one, am getting sick of it. Frankly, I think that it is a bad move on the moderators part for not blocking your base I.P. address. You have been on and off of this site for as long as I can remember. Everyone knows that you and Lockhorns/LegendLS/BuffaloHunter and whatever other names you go by are one in the same. You have put a terrible damper on this site, and, you have decreased the quality of this place. I know, I am using large words that your &quot;8th grede edumacizion&quot; might not have allowed you to have learned, but, try to grasp them.

You can trash talk the PGC, but, without them, you wouldn't be hunting. You need to realize what you are taking for granted.

For all of you other guys, I hope you have great luck this season. I hope that you all will harvest as many does legally as you can and as early as you can. Also, I hope that you guys fill your buck tags on some bruiser PA bucks.

Remember guys, if you see someone breaking the law, report them, they aren't just hurting themselves, they are hurting you, your friends, fellow hunters, and, the hunting heritage.

Well guys, I'll see ya in the woods.
