Default Delaware Deer everywhere

I was chopping corn stalks Sat behind the combines and deer were running across the fields in front of me all day. Most of them were large does, all healthy looking. This was in Smyrna, DE in a field next to the Boondocks Restaurant. After leaving there and going over to M&M Farms, state wildlife tract, there were even more deer over there. Within a day or so we are going to be at the Woodland Beach tract, picking corn , that should be fun as well. They were a bit confused , having lost all of their cover, finding new paths, being exposed. Did not see any wall hangers.

Dropped off some goose decoys at our pit today and noticed some crop carrying trucks along Woodland Beach. Looked like they were just waiting for the combine to come along. Wish it would have happned a week or so ago. Dont see myself being able to get there again before Muzzleloader season kicks in

Get them when the rut kicks in though....

Hey Scott we finally got it picked, I finished chopping stalks this morning, then went across the road. We have one more good size farm to do then we will finish corn 3200 acres. Whoa finally, then plant 2500 acres wheat . The boys saw a few small does at the Ennis farm, not any size but a lot of them. I didn't work on
Sunday so I dont know much about size. Only saw one today next to Ennis". Get out when you can.....

it looks as if the bucks rstaying out of the corn during times that they know there coldbe danger. this means they r probably traveling back and forth in the evening...and night. i think i will look for trails around and in the perimeter of the swamp...thanks for the information

The big boys are indeed moving along edges of marsh and tide river around our farm. Our neighbors on both sides just cut their corn!!
No beans on either side of us this year,so the easy food supply is gone.
We cut 6-8 large lanes thru our field about now. That gets everything movin. We throw out some apples 2 weeks before season. Our place turns into a virtual bus stop between farms!!

Just found out that the corn is down on the farm I sub lease . Its the earliest he's ever cut it down! Now I have a place I can go during smoke pole season where I wont have to worry about drawing a stand or getting my head blown off by a bunch of lunatics After all the dissapointments this season, I'm starting to get excited again! Good Luck to everyone. I will be out and about Thursday afternoon. Too hot tomorrow..

Hey Ron, They maybe running everywhere when the corns being cut but they sure know how to hunker down when its hot! Was set at woodland by 4:15pm. Was the 1st person to hunt it since the corn was cut. All was quiet. I thought I'd at least see some moving through the woods, but nothing. It was hot today though. No reason for them to feed early. Bring on the cool weather!

You guys left a nice amount of standing corn for the deer Thats always nice too see. Thanks for the updates.
