I own 2 Thompsons, a 35 cal and a 308. They are great guns for about any style of big game hunting. I have taken Whitetail, Black Bear, Rams, Buffalo and Wild Boar with mine.

Todd I hunt the southern zone of NY with a encore 15" in 300 win mag nice gun, my second Thompson 1st was a 375 win contender.
It takes a lot of practice to get good with a big hangun. Always try to shoot off a rest if possible and practice, practice, practice.
