I am wondering if I can use and either sex archery tag to shoot a doe in the northern zone in New york.

RE: New York northern zone achery
yes you can but to be absolutly sure on that question you need to call a E.C.O. in a northern zone region.i don't hunt up there but i don't recall seeing any restrictions on either sex tags any where in ny.

YES, I live & bowhunt the Northern zone. The season starts here this friday the 27th. If you still have last yrs regular season Buck tag, its good as a either sex tag in the Northern zone for the last 4 days of Sept. Before the new license goes into effect Oct. 1st. Also on your new license if you bought the Super Sportsman both your either sex tag, and doe only tag are good up here beginning 10/1.

I have avoided the north zone archery, I hunt the Speculator/Lk. Pleasant area. With the season running concurrent with the early bear I am more than nervous being in a tree in camo (brown) with bear hunters that have been hunting for years without seeing a bear, and this area gets alot of bear hunters.

I have personally never hunted that area but some friends do and they have good success during the regular season with some big rackers. Another area you may want to consider is the Pulaski NY area. We see a few 100 deer every morning headed to the Mexico launch ramp. Some 1st timers went up last season, walked into the state land off rt 13, sat down and before the day was out the 2 had killed a fork and missed on a big 10. Never saw the woods before, went in at 8am so they could see where they were. Maybe dumb luck, but after 11 years hunting the dacks I could use some of that too! I think I will be headed up there for some ML action.

Comanch
I was not there and it is not my place to tell a NJ hunter that pays $100 for a tag how he should hunt. I personally would rather eat a young doe or take the 6 plus deer. |

Rod, any idea where abouts your buddies were hunting. I live near Pulaski, travel St.Rt. 13 quit often, and don't know of a single piece state land off rt. 13!! There are a couple real small pieces on side roads, and The Happy Valley management area approx 7 miles off 13. And I can tell you to walk into an area up around here ,and never been in there before, and shoot some deer that easily is REAL LUCKY!! Rt. 3 not 13 has some readily available spots of state land thats loaded with deer. In there I could believe!!
