Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

My son and I are going on a pilgramage a couple weeks from now up to the BassProShop near Baltimore...

Anyone want to meet for lunch?

DougMD 01-09-2002 01:43 PM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

I wouldn't mind meeting up with you if I don't have much going on (wife pregnant, selling house, buying other house, packing, etc. etc.) Let me know when you are coming and I'll see if I can drive the 7 minutes from my house!

7 minutes? You must be spoiled for it! I'm looking at possibly the 17th.

DougMD 01-10-2002 07:45 AM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

I would be spoiled, but my wife and I are buying a house and I'm having a cabin built on my property in West Virginia, so I can't spend much money on hunting for a while.

The 17th is a Thursday, right? I have to work Thursdays. If you end up going on a weekend, let me know. I'll check this thread for updates.

That's next thursday, right? I might be able to make it. Let me check my schedule and get back to you. What time are you thinking about? You can e-mail me if you want.

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

Apparently Mizzou posted this and never checked it again. I sent several e-mails and never got a response. However, No.1 and I are going there today (thurdsay the 17th) and will probably arrive around 1pm. Rick, I know you know us.

It would be nice to arrange another meeting when several of us can go. Don't you guys work for a living? I can't make it there Monday through Thursday myself.

Well since we both had a birthday in the last two weeks we bought lots of turkey hunting stuff as our gifts.

DaveH 01-18-2002 12:42 PM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

We decided to forget the Harrisburg show this year due to it's ever increasing costs. This allowed us to each spend our birthday $$$ on a bunch of stuff we might have picked up there. After looking it over, Charlie's right--mostly turkey hunting stuff.

DougMD--Both Charlie and I work for a living. Due to the nature of our jobs, we work varying shifts and don't get too many weekends off--meaning we can do these things on our days off during the week.

Happy b-day guys.

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

Well, since you asked, DougMD, work took me right out of the picture. I hope you guys had a good time up there. I did drive to within a couple miles of the place, but couldn't go. Work changed my plans for me.

(As for not checking this post, I was away from my computer for a couple of days, but if I'd known how much interest there was, I would have tried to ditch work!)

Hope you had a good time.

DougMD, are Fridays okay?

DougMD 01-22-2002 08:00 AM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

Fridays are good for me. How about this Friday (January 25)? I don't really need anything, but wouldn't mind checking out the gun safes.

By the way, I didn't mean the work comment as a derrogatory remark to anyone.

Who can make it there Friday?

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

A bunch of us have been tossing around the idea of going too. Last year we went to the Harrisburg show, it was ok. We thought we would try something different this year. We hunt, fish and camp so Bass Pro should keep us busy for a couple of hours. Is it worth the three hour trip? There would be a few of us splitting the gas money with nothing better to do during the offseason! We have a Gander Mountain 4 miles from my house, but it isn't all that.

DougMD 01-22-2002 09:20 AM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

It is just a store with a lot of hunting stuff in it. It also has some mounts of impressive deer. I would say it's worth it if you have a lot of stuff to get and are looking to check out someplace new.

DaveH 01-22-2002 10:19 AM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

I've been to both this one and the one in Houston--both are nice. We spent 4 hours in this one! The mounts over at the gun section is absolutely mind-boggling! Unbelievably huge racks of both typicals and non-typicals over 200+ inches! The prices aren't anything special--average for the most part. The Harrisburg show is just getting too costly--when I heard about the extra $10 they want you to cough up to park this year, I had enough.

Shoot! Can't make it this Friday, but possibly February 15...how would that be?

stinkin' work is kicking in! Someone on this thread jinxed me!

The 15th is fine with me too. Anyone else want to meet up on Friday the 15th at BassPro for lunch? It would be nice to meet up with some of the people on this board.

It's on my calendar, and maybe the wife will let me bring some money, too!

if you don't mind i might try to make it on the 15th, sounds like it might be fun

RonM, you would rather pay shipping and handling right? I could make the 15th also.

I'll try to make it. I work 15 minutes from the mall. It's a real nice lunch time diversion.

Theres a lounge just inside the main enterance of BPS. It has a lodge setting with mounts all over the walls and sofas and chairs, a fireplace and all. We could meet there at a pre determined time.

Thanks mizzou, let me know what time

DougMD 01-28-2002 08:58 AM

Count me in. That lounge, it is just inside the OUTSIDE entrance, right, not the mall entrance?

mdbohuntr, didn't you post about hunting near Bowie State a few decades ago? I ride the train by there 4 days a week and have seen deer there quite often.

Rickmur 01-28-2002 02:48 PM

RE: Pilgramage to BassProShop in Baltimore

Doug, yes on both accounts. The Bowie state college post was about a post where someone asked if you ever found a body while hunting. I walked right past one that was dumped there while I was hunting but yes I did hunt there often. I imagine you still can.

Anytime mid-morning/early afternoon...

Let's start firming this up. How about 11am?

My wife has a doctor's appointment (7 months pregnant) at 11:00 AM and I have to watch our son. But I should be able to make it by 12:00, and can make it for sure at 12:30. Can we do it then, or anytime later.

12:30 will work for me, that would give me time to get about 2 hrs sleep after work before I headed down.
mysticguido, it's located just off the Baltimore-Washington Pkwy on Rt.100, take Rt.100 east from the pkwy and it's right on the right. If your coming north on the pkwy theres an exit for Bass pro Blvd just before the Rt.100 exit.

1230 sounds great...that'll be more time for browsing...

I may go broke! And by the way, one of you is going to have to show me how to use my owl call. I'm completely clueless! (spring turkey not to far away!)
