Well since we both had a birthday in the last two weeks we bought lots of turkey hunting stuff as our gifts.

We decided to forget the Harrisburg show this year due to it's ever increasing costs. This allowed us to each spend our birthday $$$ on a bunch of stuff we might have picked up there. After looking it over, Charlie's right--mostly turkey hunting stuff.

DougMD--Both Charlie and I work for a living. Due to the nature of our jobs, we work varying shifts and don't get too many weekends off--meaning we can do these things on our days off during the week.

Well, since you asked, DougMD, work took me right out of the picture. I hope you guys had a good time up there. I did drive to within a couple miles of the place, but couldn't go. Work changed my plans for me.

(As for not checking this post, I was away from my computer for a couple of days, but if I'd known how much interest there was, I would have tried to ditch work!)

Hope you had a good time.

DougMD, are Fridays okay?

Fridays are good for me. How about this Friday (January 25)? I don't really need anything, but wouldn't mind checking out the gun safes.

By the way, I didn't mean the work comment as a derrogatory remark to anyone.

Who can make it there Friday?

A bunch of us have been tossing around the idea of going too. Last year we went to the Harrisburg show, it was ok. We thought we would try something different this year. We hunt, fish and camp so Bass Pro should keep us busy for a couple of hours. Is it worth the three hour trip? There would be a few of us splitting the gas money with nothing better to do during the offseason! We have a Gander Mountain 4 miles from my house, but it isn't all that.

It is just a store with a lot of hunting stuff in it. It also has some mounts of impressive deer. I would say it's worth it if you have a lot of stuff to get and are looking to check out someplace new.

I've been to both this one and the one in Houston--both are nice. We spent 4 hours in this one! The mounts over at the gun section is absolutely mind-boggling! Unbelievably huge racks of both typicals and non-typicals over 200+ inches! The prices aren't anything special--average for the most part. The Harrisburg show is just getting too costly--when I heard about the extra $10 they want you to cough up to park this year, I had enough.
