It will change the way we prepare by opening on Saturday. The couple weekend days before opener were filled with camp opening duties. But I for one like the change. My daughter and son will now be able to be at camp for the first 2 days and that makes it all worth while to me.

Yeah, I think I will be taking that Friday off from work. The only thing that I do like about the Saturday opener, is that I always take opening week off of work, but this year, I will have Sat and Sun to rifle hunt also. So I guess the extra 2 days of rifle aren't that bad though.

I like the weekend opener for more people being out there. I dont travel to a camp, so I am biased this way. I personally would prefer to see fewer deer numbers, but I realize Im definitely in the minority on that one! The one thing I cannot stand is the antler restrictions. Yes, I want to protect a young buck. But, I do not want it to be a law, rather a hunters choice. Theres no way Im shooting a spike or small buck, but I dont think all areas offer the same potential, and hunting is based on our personal choices.

I like the fact that my young son can experience opening day without "winking" and being sick on Monday! - It fits better with the example that I try lead by.

I like others liked/disliked some of the suggested law changes and spent a lot of time emailing the DEC. Now we have a much bigger problems in regards to deer hunting. I live about three miles from where they found two deer with Cronic Wasting Disease in the wilds. I believe this will be a very bad problem in the future. Anyone have any comments?
