My name is Shane McDermott, and I am the President and Owner of Mapping The Outdoors. We are an online mapping service that sells maps of property using aerial photography and topographic features. I have owned the business since 2003, and have run in on the side, as I also own another business that employs me full time.
I am putting Mapping The Outdoors up for sale. if you are interested in the company you can visis the website at www.mappingtheoutdoors.com for more information on our services. The show has been featured in many articles over the years, as well as on hunting shows nationwide.
I am asking $57,000 for the business and all of its assets. The company is currently debt free, and runs on very little overhead. The only real overhead is that which is generated when a map order comes in (and that is good overhead).
Assets Include:
Server with Mapping The Outdoors online application
Dell laptop computer with mapping templates for making maps
Data (aerial photos, contours, & Tiger data) delivered on external hard drives
This includes aerial photography for about 90% of the country
HP 9800 Printer for printing 13x19” maps
HP 800 Plotter for making 36” maps (see photo)
Ink and Paper in stock for above printer & plotter
Tubes and shipping material in stock
5x8’ Pace Cargo Trailer (see pictures)
Various tables & chairs used for Trade Shows
Various maps & posters for booth for trade shows (see photo, actual display not included – was rented)
Customer List from 2006-2008.
Digital files from brochures & marketing literature
All website files for www.mappingtheoutdoors.com (will assist in transfer of domain as well)
Roughly $30,000 in assets.
Sales are generated as follows:
Trade show sales – I average a little over $4,000 per show. These are usually 3 day weekend trade shows. It costs me about $1,000 per show to attend and about $500 per show to fulfill orders. I attend 5 – 7 shows every year. So over the past 4 – 5 years I have averaged about $25,000 per year in sales. That can increase by going to more shows.
Online sales – I usually do about $6,000 - $8,000 per year in online sales. That about 140-150 map orders per year. That as well can increase with more marketing and exposure.
Custom map orders – I usually get about a dozen of these per year. They com from outfitters and people that want custom work done, like importing GPS data into a map. They average about $500 - $700 per orders, which turns in to another $6,000 a year in sales.
Total sales every year range from $25,000 - $35,000.
Please contact me directly if you are interested in purchasing the company. My email is [email protected].
Thank you.
