Just what we need, another WI hunting org.
First it was the WDHC, saying the DNR can't count deer.

just wait till they come after bear baitn as they are doing here and on the east coast.....both the same way. They want to curtail it till they can do a study...one which can/will never be proven! Good luck at the good fight!

Jason, LOL, actually getting rid of baiting would not be a bad thing, JMHO. The WDHC, they're just trying to start a fire with wet wood, it ain't gonna go. hehehehe
PS, we reserved a bar stool with your name on it. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
Doug.

Sag: What do you expect if THE established club can't put forth an agenda their members want? Although I see now at least some are making position statements. Still trying not to piss off the DNR, and satisfy some of its members. Do you still believe the DNR can count deer? What will it take? Them to come out and say, oops! we missed the count by a couple hundred thousand? I think thats already been said. For the record, I think its time to get rid of baiting and rec. feeding of deer only. That barstool mentality will never go away if we can't find them a better more understanding forum to voice their opinions. Still on the rare occasion I am in a bar, I would rather talk about deer than THE WEATHER if you know what I mean.

nub, yes, I do believe the DNR can count deer. I don't want any changes made to the current setup, especially 16 day gun season. Michigan and Pennsylvania tried it, they still needed extra antlerless seasons to control populations, and they have more gun and bow deer hunters than Wisconsin.
I'ld rather talk deer than weather too. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
The Wisconsin Bowhunter Association membership re-afirmed the following position regarding 16 day gun seasons at their annual meeting in Green Bay Sunday.
"WBH supports the traditional 9 day gun deer buck and quota season beginning the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving day and running through the Sunday after Thanksgiving day, with any antlerless only hunting seasons in those units 20% or more over management goals, scheduled after those 9 days."
In an additional resolution from the floor, "WBH also oposses holding a special antlerless herd control season in any unit that has not had, at least one year, of free antlerless tags, in unlimited quantities, prior to holding a special season."
