Has any one seen any scraps yet? How about MONSTER deer in the Sangamon County Area?

Haven't seen any scrapes yet in Montgomery county. Last weekend I didn't see much of anything. I guess it was that October lull in action. Only saw 5 deer all weekend and they were all in a cornfield as I was walking out Saturday evening. I would think by next weekend we should start seeing some pre-rut action kicking in as long as temps cool down.

I haven't seen much either in the past couple of days. Im going out this evening and hunt a rubline I saw. Hopefully Ill get lucky.

no scrapes but the rubs are starting to show up everywhere! im goin turkey hunting this weekend with shotgun then bow hunt in the evenings so ill give ya an update see ifi see and scrapes.

Found a few nice rubs last night. Still haven't seen a scrape this year besides the ones I've made.

I just noticed a "community" scrape pretty close to my stand with a few small rubs around it. Just one scrape though. Deer activity is starting to pick up.

Ive had lots of small does and buck fawns coming around. Mabey the does are kicking them out the nest. Hopefully the temps drop some. Right now its too hot to see anything.

I have seen a-lot of deer. Toke a drive last night and tonight. Last night I saw a good size buck making a scrape. And tonight I saw a good size buck chasing 2 small does.

Seeing lots of deer even scrape lines that are being freshen up after it rains . Time to spend as much time in the woods as we can men.

Been seeing some does runing off small fawns.

The bucks should be moveing after this full moon.

where am i suppose to be looking? i saw some along the creek line in midewin, but not many anywhere else. im seeing some very heavy traffic trails, though...there are some MONSTERS in here. they pulled a 16 pointer out 10/30. sweet! pre-rut MONSTER!

I was out hunting yesterday am.. bowhunting the edge of a thicket bedding area..... I watched 6 does browse for food for close to a half hour when a doe came busting out of the thicket 40 yards to my right .... she was postureing like she was being chased a minute latter a small came running out of the thicket after the doe .... followed by a tremendous 10 pointer whom I would gestimate to score at 155 to 160 P&Y he stopped at 45 yards in the open and posed for a 45 yard broadside shot.... . but was to far he was out of my comfort zone for shooting while bowhunting is 30 yards..... he was then followed by a shooter 8 pointer with really high G'2s..... . all stayed in hot pursuit of the doe. I watched them chase her around and then back out of the area........... I tried doe bleating and grunting but none would come in and leave the doe...........The Chaseing is really fired up:D

i saw two doe yesterday and was sure a buck would follow, but it didnt. i waited and waited. they seemed like a princess and her maid...it was cute. there was a real lite one, she was beautiful. almost got a shot off, but i decided to let them get bigger...(isnt that what youre supose to say when you blow a perfect shot?)

had a nice 8 with a big body at 20 yrs, but was hunting land with min of 5 pts on one side rule. nice to see em anyway

Went out sunday evening and had 2 nice bucks on does but couldn't get a clear shot. monday and tuesday I only saw a few does in the morning but nothing else. I wonder if there moving better at midday? Hopefully things will get real hot!

Had a nice 10 point 25 yards Sunday, but I was Shaking like a leaf.Didn't even shot.

seems the deer in my area have went nocturnal. Only saw 2 small bucks and 3 does last couple of days. hope ruts not waning already.

I watched 3 buck chase a doe Saturday afternoon. I decided to try and stalk up behind them. Well I finally got behind them but they were bedded down in the middle of a corn field. They stayed there the entire afternoon. Then a small 4 pt came out of the timber on the trail of doe and saw the big 12 pt. bedded next to her, so he took off back into the woods. Then another small 8 did the same thing. The closest I got to the 12 pt. was 60 yards. I was sneeking around in a waterway that was lower than the field. He would never get further than 30 yards from the doe.

things havent been too good where i have been bowhunting lately. havent seen many deer. i have been out dang near every evening the last 2 weeks and only seen one deer in bow range. i shotgun hunt at a completely different place so hopefully the deer are moving there. huntIL im hoping the rain will hold off too. never have done worth a schit in the rain.[&:]

Dad missed a deer this morning.

I'm going tomarrow, went bowhunting last night saw 13 deer.

I'm not in Illinois, but from what I have seen, the rut is yet to come... I went out last weekend and saw 60 deer, a whopping 3 bucks out of all that, and that was opening morning, one of which I took home with me. The funny thing was, we saw 57 does, 3 bucks and the bucks were on their own on Saturday morning (opening day), not a doe in sight Saturday morning, then, after that not a buck in sight, they aren't in the rut, as everyone else has said, temps have been too warm for the rut.

We have had plently of scrapes and rubs though. We here in Indiana get your weather "leftovers" from Illinois, so could you please send some colder temps and maybe some SNOW our way?

from what i have seen here in illinois, the rut is at its peak and seems to be starting to slow down now. im guessing maybe 3 more days maybe 4 at the most.

I just got home tonight from southern IL (Pope county) I shot a really nice 9 pointer this morning with my Muzzleloader. This will actually be my first wallmount.
We saw several bucks chasing doe's Friday and Saturday.....And I am worn out and going to bed. :)

Wednesday I saw a awesome shooter buck with a doe and a smaller buck with a doe..... Thursday the bucks were with does , saw the same awesome shooter with a doe and another shooter with a doe I kicked up on accident...and the hubby took a nice 10 pointer following a group of does to a cut corn field.........I missed a super wide monster I shot for 40 yards last week trotting after a doe....... I watched my arrow just miss skinning his belly hairs, when I ranged findered it after the miss it turns out he was 47 yards [:@]:(

Lady, shooter bucks were really on the move Thursday. I am also gonna give it a shot Monday morning hoping that the 2 big bucks I've been seeing on one property were not taken during shotgun over the weekend. :eek:

Well I finally closed the deal this weekend with the shotgun!! Had one of the deer I got on my trail camera come into 40 yards following 4 does on Saturday afternoon...I shot and he ran like nothing happened to him...I looked but found no deer or blood Saturday night!! Tonight(Sunday) decided to get out of the tree and try to push some deer towards my wife, I was walking along an old strip mine pond levee and looked across the pond to see my deer laying there....Big 11 pointer on a 10 point frame(1" kicker on the G-2)...Should gross in high 150's...And should have pictures tomorrow or the next day...Got the photo of this particular deer just before bow season started and have been hunting this deer since...Saturday was the first time seeing him...And luckily I got him!!

Glad to hear you found your buck.... Congrats;) We would love to see a pic of your buck.
Went out yesterday at noon I had a non shooter buck come into 30 yards running a doe , he was grunting the entire time.
My evening hunt was on the cut corn field with 17 turkeys in the field and I stopped counting the deer I was seeing after the 11th deer all were does and yearlings . no bucks.[:@]

With the snow melting today will the deer move much?
Or will they stay in the timber?
