Illinois record buck?!!?
i was at Pontiac prison today for a service call and talking to some people their. one of the corrections officers shot a HUGE buck during the second season in Hardin county. I saw his pictures and it is unbelievable. He said buckmasters had already sent a scorer out to see it and they gave it an unofficial score of 254 inches, with 24 scoreable points. He said that the guy from bm told him to get a lawyer and dont sign away right to anyone yet. this buck was amazing. be watching for this one in the deer magazines. im not really a trophy hunter so im not sure if this is a record or not, but it sure is beautiful

Can't wait to see some pics. What an accomplishment to harvest that size of deer during second season. I'm happy just seeing a couple does the second go around let alone a world class buck. Congrats to Mr Austin!

george_s, Thank you for getting his name. I know a guard there whose name is Scott Teske. I thought it might have been him since he hunts Hardin county as well. I can't wait until he decides to release some pics, but I understand why he is being careful to do everything right.
