Where are you in northern Illinois? We used to go to Sycamore sportsman club. It's been like 10 plus years since I have been there but they have a range you can use and not be a member. Range out to 100 yards, I think we payed like $10 to shoot. May want to call ahead to make sure it's still a thing they do.

You can always just do like I did a month ago and get the hell out of Illinois. Bought a home in NW Indiana after renting for 12 years due to Mad Mike’s tax and pension fiasco. I now live in LaPorte where I got a great state land range 20 minutes south at Kingsbury WA and another one 45 minutes south at Jasper Pulaski WA.
But beware both states are making shotguns obsolete for deer. If you are shooting for birds go for it.
