Default Mineral Licks

Just wondering what would be the best to use. I live in South East Minnesota, and am planning on setting out a couple of mineral licks to set my cameras over, and wondering what everyone is using in my area.

One word of caution, check your Deer REGS. In WI, it is illegal to Bait Deer out of season. Mineral is a bait, in my state. I know people do it by disolving the mineral in water and pouring on a stump or hole in the ground. The deer will actually eat the dirt or stump. This still isn't legal, but it is harder for the law to catch you.
I do not condone this practice. It does happen.

I use cheap old trace mineral blocks and the deer love them.

do you want to really turn those deer on??? try dumping a bag or two of watersoftener salt nuggets into a depression rain water lays in often thruout the year or on top of the mud in a swampy area...after they are hitting it good go to a feed store and buy a 50# bag of red trace mineral (loose not in the solid block) costs only a few dollars and add that into the hole...do this every 4-5 months and you'll have the best mineral lick you can get

If you do that the deer will need a step ladder to get out of the hole by fall. They will make a crater!

I tried Trophy Rock and had no luck. I think they are a gimmick.

If your deer aren't used to any salt supplement then they won't take to it. Mine were the same way at first.
I think trophy rocks are over rated because I get more action off the cheap trace mineral blocks.
