Southern IL rut
#3
Centralia, eh? I'm from Mt.Vernon but live up north now. I've only hunted So. Il a few times this season so far but will be doing nothing but hunting from the 12th through shotgun season. As long as it stays cool I'm hoping for a good rut this year with the new moon coming in next week. My only concern is all the crops in the field still so we'll see.
But back to the topic, I have only seen some casual chasing up here...nothing in So. Il. Hopefully that changes soon!

im from pinckneyville and i havent seen any action at all. Seen a few deer and tons of small bucks but no chasing. They said wednesday is supposed to be the best day of the year so we will see if the prediction is right.

the bucks are sure moving a lot more in Richland County. My sister saw a nice 8 pointer on my land and my dad's hunting partner missed a 14 pointer over the weekend. That's after not seeing much of any movement by big bucks. Of course, they have most of the crops out now and there is less cover too.
