I just want a chance to harvest a deer... NEED HELP
i love the outdoors. I am disabled with a mental condition called epilepsy im a slow learner hard for me to understand some things...im looking for a a mentor in my area (Fort Dodge), to spend some time with me, probably some time at the gun range, and then some time in the deer woods to show me the ropes and guide me on a hunt or two. Or just let me tag along on one of your days out to show me the "proper" way to do things. I guess what I am asking is for someone in the Fort Dodge area,(or close) that is a deer hunter or at least knows a little about it, to step up and go with me to the range and help out, then eventually be able to guide me if I need further assistance at that point. Or ask me to come along if your already headed to the range anyway.
thank you

I am also a long way aways but see if you can contact a sportsman club in your area or ask to put up a NOTE at the local sporting good stores with your 1st name & ph number so someone could contact you. With Epilepsy you definatley need someone with you at all times in the outdoors.. Good Luck.
You need to have your Hunter Safety certification 1st if you do not already have that.

Indiana has a mentor program that allows a first-time hunter to get out before taking a safety course, but they do need to be accompanied by the mentor at all times. Maybe your state has a similar program.
No harm getting to the range. It's a good idea to be proficient with your gun, even if you can't hunt right away. Putting a note on a bulletin board at the range is a good idea. Good job asking for help. Keep working at it and you'll get there.
