Default Illinois late season/CWD areas.

I find it interesting that Illinois is continuing the late season CWD hunts even though they haven't been testing for it this year. (I did not take a deer with the gun last year, were they testing?) When I checked in my deer during second season this yearthe State biologist said it costs between $11-$13 per deer and the State said its not worth the money for the few cases that have been found.

Oh well, one more weekend with the short-range rifle in hand is o.k. with me.

I believe the late season anterless only hunt was started to try to bring doe numbers down, at least that was the case down here in the southern part of the state. I do not believe they have ever found a case of CWD down here (I could be wrong). However, what i find funny is the fact that the harvest numbers that are coming in are way down from last year and I have been told by more than one CO that there were many more deer killed by blue tongue last year than what the state is leading on to. We all know this is a corrupt state that has little care for it's natural resources, so it does not suprise me that they just keep issuing tags without really knowing what is going on with the herd.

I was going to hunt at Lowden-Miller State Forest in Ogle County but they were not a cwd county this year so tags were not available over the counter. Not having any unused tags for that county I did not hunt.

This year I am applying for an Ogle tag.

They where testing for CWD in the CWD counties. This was being done during the firearm seasons, and the CWD seasons but not the muzzleloader season. I had a deer tested and it was done fast and free.
