RE: Michgan Hunters Post Your 2008 Archery Kill
I was in the UP hunting this entire past week.
The Pre-Rut has deffinately started up there. Bucks were cruising, and one nice eight pointer was even chasing and grunting. The temperatures were much cooler up there and we even seen snow two days.
Shouldn't be but another week or so in Central Lower Michigan...... But then again, we live in Michigan????

had a doe run around the property 3 or 4 times tonight, must be getting alittle antzy, she managed to get the curiousity of a little 6 pt but that was it. Down in Battle Creek yesterday saw a bunch of new rubs and a 120ish 8pt workin 2 does, had to be on the wrong side of the road[:@]. next should be really good!!

Well, Its getting too close to rifle season to not have any meat in the freezer yet, so I took the "first decent deer I see goes down" approach finally. I got a decent size 4 point tonight. I have never seen a buck in this spot and was really doe hunting. So when I heard it comingI figured itwas a doe. I wish it would have been, but hey, meat is meat. Its so warm that I already have him quatered up and in the fridge though. Sorry I didnt get any pics of him all in one peice, but I'll try to get something posted here tommorow. (whats left anyway)Now that the fear of going without any meat is over, I can rest easy and enjoy the rest of the season.

Great Michigan buck! Congrats to your buddy.
Tomorrow is the opener fellas. I know most of us have been in the woods for over a month now, but stress saftey. MANY more hunters in the woods this weekend and saftey needs to be number one priority. I know it may seem like it sometimes, but NO deer is worth anyones life.
Hunt hard, hunt safe, add pictures to huntingnet.com! (haha)
