i found one squirrel hunting in '06 here in sangamon co. and went 161 2/8 typical inches at the official scoring place, and my dad shot one at my grandpas house in pike that went 156 7/8 after deductions...beautiful deer, and WIDE racks too, just unbelievable-the deer hunting available here in the great state of IL is simply the best there is, no questions asked...and yes the mel johnson buck is still the #1 biggest typical ever

I lived within 70 miles of Peoria all my life until 11 years ago& took my 1st Archery Deer in 1958-Moved to IOWA cause the DEER are to SMALL in Illinois. Good Luck.

Your right, I am sick of just seeing 150-160 inch deer, where are the 200+? Maybe I should move to Iowa as well.....when hell freezes over. [:'(]

Tags are pretty dam spendy, seeing its only an 8hr drive i will have too make it a few times..

That's because 25,000 or so people are willing to pony up every year. I'll bet they are even more "spendy" next year!
