If your asking if there are any leftover archery tags for Non-Residents, the answer is yes, and they go on sale I think August 12th

$6,000.00 this year to pay the outfitters to offset the loss of business due to the high gas prices.

I was in your shoes last year, I purchased a left-over NR archery tag. I was calling the 800# on the first day they went on sale and I couldn't get thru for the life of me. I had to call a friend at home, he had to enter all my info via the computer 2 mins. later I owned my tags. So they day they go on sale, do it thru the computer and for the NR archery combo deer tag it will cost you $411.03

This is the Mel Johnson buck, I believe it's still the #1 typical world record ever taken by a bow...IN PEORIA CO.

Now don't get your hopes on shooting a 180+ deer, just letting you know the area your in IS prime habitat to grow them. You will have fun, and remember ANYTHING over 125" is a AWESOME deer.

i found one squirrel hunting in '06 here in sangamon co. and went 161 2/8 typical inches at the official scoring place, and my dad shot one at my grandpas house in pike that went 156 7/8 after deductions...beautiful deer, and WIDE racks too, just unbelievable-the deer hunting available here in the great state of IL is simply the best there is, no questions asked...and yes the mel johnson buck is still the #1 biggest typical ever

Your right, I am sick of just seeing 150-160 inch deer, where are the 200+? Maybe I should move to Iowa as well.....when hell freezes over. [:'(]

That's because 25,000 or so people are willing to pony up every year. I'll bet they are even more "spendy" next year!

Lets face it fellas-If you live in Ill., Iowa parts of Ws. & Mo with Ks thrown in-we all have excellent Whitetail that others can only dream of. I've Bowhunted most of these states & many southern states like N.C. & La. They have good bucks too but for the most part, many of what "WE THE FORTUNATE" consider average are giants to them. Your in an excellent part of the coutry to see & or take a great deer. Just enjoy your time & hope for the best.
The biggest set of antlers will not make you the best hunter-just more to talk about.
One of my closest friends from Peoria showed me where Mel Johnsons Buck came from just a year or so after he took him. I have shot many a indoor tournament in Peoria not far from the place. I am old-I took my 1st Deer with a Bow in 1958, my 2nd year of Bowhunting so I've seen many a Big Buck cruzin through the timber. GOOD LUCK.

Bravo! Too many of you "fortunate" people take your situation for granted, and look down at us out-of-staters that would be overwhelmed with a 125" deer. You're good people!
