Default Ohio Rut?

Planning on coming out for an Archery hunt this year. I was wondering when would be the suggested time to come out. Last year we came out for the first week of bow and it was smoking hot. I was looking at the seasons and was wondering should I come out before the muzzleloader season or come out the first of second week in November. I'm leaning heavily on the second week of November to hopefully hit the rut. Any insight would be helpfull. Oh I plan on hunting th Mohican State Forest Area unless something else comes up.
Thanks in advance Dennis

I second that... First week they will be hitting it pretty hard. The second weekthe mature bucks areusually locked up. The third week the searching begins again. I have always had the best of luck the beginning of Nov. and the endof Nov.

Edit: Also, the end of Oct. is pretty good because you can still pattern the bucks pretty well by hunting scrape and rub lines.

Best of luck!

Any where from Oct 31 to Nov 14 is prime time I think. Of course there are a lot of variables with hunting but these dates I think you couldn't go wrong. Plus if you come for muzzleloader season the deer have been pressured so hard from the orange army week plus an extra weekend before muzzleloader even comes in. Way to much gun pressure if you ask me. I liked it better when the deer got a break between regular gun season and muzzleloader season. Well hope this helped yah any more questions just pm me.

the rut in northeast ohio has always been earlier than traditional theory . typically , one would think nov 5th- 15th for a 10 day span, but i have had incredibly more success the 10 days prior - 25th - 5th . i have harvested more deer on oct 26th and nov 4th than any other days. true, this means nothing, though maybe its the drastic climate difference im in up here in geauga county than most other counties in ohio.... maybe i hit it earlier. but im slappin in enticer mock scrapes 2nd week in october . opening day and week is fantatic for all season, deer and turkey especially, though you have a higher probability culling the big boys out the first week of november when their 'family jewels' have dropped full tilt and their not thinking with their brains.
