Just Moved
I just moved to Kansas (in Johnsonn County) and am looking for some places todeer hunt. Any suggestions? Still have some places to go in NorthEast Mo but would like some local places around here for quick convenient hunts.

RE: Just Moved
Its been a while since I've been out there hunting, but I went to KU and took a few classes at Johnson County CC. I don't know anywhere close to there to hunt but I used to hunt out at Clinton Lake. It was about 15 minutes from Lawrence so it would probably be about 45 minutes from Johnson Co. depending where you are. There are a pretty good amount of deer out there. I went out half ass in college (Basically wearing orange, sitting on a stump overlooking a corn field) and managed a fat doe. I did see a few nice bucks while rabbit hunting there, but none when I had my rifle. Its worth a look, never saw many hunters out there. A few cars during opening day of deer season, but that was it. Here's a little info on it. Im sure the Kansas guys could help you out more, but this kept me busy close to campus and always had different terrain to hunt. Good luck

I am from Lawrence. Not far from you. I'm not real familiar with public hunting pressure around as I hunt only private. You may also check the Walk-in atlas. There is quite a bit of public hunting around Clinton Lake and Douglas county lake.
