Black bear numbers
I just read a study the DNR has been doing that says there are a lot more bear Here than there used to be. They say there may actually be almost twice the amount believed to be here. From all the bear sighting that have been going on IN towns and back yards over the last years I already thought this. Has anyone noticed this in their area?

RE: Black bear numbers
Here in Minnesota they seem to be up and down through out the years. Its really hard to judge on how many bear we've got around. When there natural food supply is low everyone see's them and thinks that there every where and need to be shot then the next year they have an abundant food source and no one see's one all year. It really depends on the food sources they have in the wild. All in all I think the bear population is pretty good here in Northern Minnesota

In Missouri the sightings have been increasing as well. Just like anything else the authorities never let you know what's actually going on untill it's very, very, evident.

I hope to get a tag sooner than later here in Wisconsin! The DNR said bear numbers are way more that they first had thought! Give out more tags! I got 4 points and hoping within the next 2-3 years I'll get my tag!

Does this surprise anyone? The DNR has shown they cannot count deer and for years there has been a growing belief that there are more bears than they have said. Now suddenly they appear to be suggesting that there are more bears...what a shock!
